Hey, hi, hello! So, as you can probably tell, I've decided to write a sequel to The Boy Next Door, the fanfic I wrote about R5 (which if you haven't read it, you may want to do so before reading this story). Every once and a while I check Wattpad, just to see if my story is still being read and I was surprised to see it is! On the last chapter of the book, someone had commented if there would be a sequel and 2015 me said there would be. Fast forward to 2019 and someone else commented, asking about the sequel, which made me feel great that people are still super into my story, but that also means I totally dropped the ball on that. So I decided to read my story again, and there are definitely some cringe-y, unrealistic parts to it, but overall I'm still proud of what I was able to come up with! I love writing and haven't done it in forever which is why I have decided to create a sequel!
That being said, there are a few things I wanted to let you know, should you still be reading my annoying author's note at this point. First, my sequel will be taking place in real time. Meaning, the original story happened in 2014 and this new one will take place now, in 2019, so the first chapter will be a bit bland, catching up the reader on everything that has been going on in the lives of the characters over the past five years. Second, I as the writer am not a fangirl of R5 (or The Driver Era) anymore, therefore I'm not sure how accurate everything will be as I am not obsessively checking twitter and Instagram as I did when I wrote the first book. But I will still do research if necessary and make it as realistic and believable as possible. Third, I am older, the characters are older, and parts of the book will be more mature than others, if you know what I mean. I'll mark those parts of the book with this: "*****" before and after the section should you want to skip it, since whether or not you read the section won't take away from the actual plot.
