The small sound of papers rustling, with small footsteps was the only noise that came from Elizabeth's room. She had a large trunk open on the floor, with many clothes folded neatly inside. Beside the trunk a medium sized bag opened, and overflowing with book and paper. Right now Elizabeth; Lizzy was trying to find a way to fit all of her books into her bag.
She had finally got every book to fit snugly when her mother walked in.
"Oh hey mom, what are you still doing awake?" It was a little bit past three in the morning.
"I could ask you the same thing.." her mother said with a long frown. She was clearly upset about something Lizzy could clearly see that. She known it wasn't because she was awake, her mother stopped caring about what time her sister and her went to bed when they were fifteen.
"Mom what's wrong?" Her mother did not respond. She just stood there looking at her. Renée; her mother, was a moderately beautiful woman, with long brown hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. She stood at a small height of 5'4'', although Lizzy couldn't say anything about her mother's height since she was also 5'4'', and she also looked exactly like her mother. Except for her eyes that is, they were chocolate brown.
"I regret having you..." her mother said In the smallest of voices. In fact Lizzy almost didn't hear what she had said.... But sadly she did.
"Wait what?" Lizzy's happy smiling face faded into a confused one.
"Your seventeen years old. That makes you of legal age to do magic. Am I wrong?" Lizzy just sat on the floor, mouth agape, she couldn't believe, or understand what her mother was saying. "And that also makes you a legal adult in the eyes of the ministry, right." Her mothers eyes were cold and she was standing there with her arms crossed. This was the stance her mother always took when she was serious.
"M-mom? What are you talking about?" Lizzy said Welling the tears away that threatened to spill over her eyes and down her face.
"Answer the questions." Renée snapped.
"Well theoretically, yes I am a adult and I can use magic without restriction. Why do you ask?" Lizzy stood herself up, and tried her best to remain calm. Although, somewhere deep in the four corners of her mind she knew what her mother was about to say.
"This January your sister will be moving in with your father. Phill and I are going to travel America and try and get him signed with a baseball team there." Renée's voice seemed to have no emotion in it, that was a lie her words were cold and harsh. Lizzy notice that she never said anything about her. Of course she would be at school for most of the year, but something was wrong. She could feel it in her bones.
"So where does that leave me?" Every second that pasted Elizabeth could feel a whole growing in her heart and stomach.
"In a week your father will be coming to visit. I want you to erase yourself from his memories when he leaves. Then when you leave for school erase yourself from mine, Phill's, and Bella's memories." Each word had the potency of a knife. The amount of hatred and coldness behind her mother's words was like nothing she never heard before. Lizzy knew her mother hated her, but she never expected this. Ever since her hogwarts Acceptance letter came her mother has distanced herself from her. Renée afton showed favoritism towards her twin sister Bella. At first she hated it, but now she just didn't care. In fact -now that she thinks about it- she's not even surprised by what her mother said, but that doesn't mean she's not hurt.
'Its ok.' Elizabeth thought, 'at least I still have my friends at hogwarts.'And so the I fulfilled what my mother asked me, with a slight twist...
