"Are you okay?" The hazel-eyed boy asked me as I stuffed my phone in my backpack.

"I may be lost," I responded with an unfortunate voice.

"Saybrook is very small. How are you lost?" He seemed confused he probably thought I was pulling his leg or something.

"I don't have a clue how to get back home. My phone just died and well to make matters worse I don't even know my house address."

"Well, you are very unlucky to be in that position. I get off in 10 mins maybe I can walk with you until you remember."

"Um, I don't mean to bother. Can I borrow your phone? It's getting dark so I better call my mom and let her know."

" Here you go. I'll be back in a little bit." He walked away to the back and I turned on the phone. His screen saver had a picture of him and a beautiful golden labrador.

"Mom?"

"Who is this?"

"It's me. Mom, I'm lost. I don't know how to get home. "

"Why aren't you home? You don't know the town well enough yet. "

"I know but nobody picked me up from school so I decided to walk home. The problem is I don't know my address or the way."

"Where are you at right now and where is your phone?"

"I'm at a cafe. And my phone is dead. It's called Tys Cafe."

"Ohhh," she said laughing.

"What's funny, mom I'm lost."

" walk a block back from there and you will come upon Valley St. And our house is 6 houses down," she said with a pretty cheerful tone.

"Mom but it's going to get dark soon."

"Honey I'm at work. I can't go pick you up. I'll be home around 12ish. I have to go."

Then just like that, she hung up. Ugh. Great, I was going to walk home in the dark.

" Hey, I'm back. Here is your tab." The hazel-eyed boy was standing next to me again holding a small receipt on a black check presenter.

"Oh thank you here." I handed him my card and returned his phone.

"Give me a second and I'll go run this."

Once again he walked away. I looked out the window and I could see the sun starting to go down.

Maybe if I left now. I could beat the sunset. I would make it home before sundown.

"Here you go. If you give me a few minutes I can help you find your house?"

"Um... Thank you very much but I think I know where it's at. I appreciate it. Also, what's your name?"

I been talking to him for a good minute now and had no clue what his name was.

" Alejandro, most people call me Alex though."

" ohhh. Nice to meet you and well I have to go. See you around."

I scribbled down my signature and making sure I left a very good 30% tip on my tab. Alex really made my day much better so he really deserved a great tip.

I ran down the street hoping I would come across the stop sign soon. Finally, Valley St. I walked down multiple houses and finally came to the blue house that brought me so much comfort.

I walked in and fell right on the couch. The house felt solitary. I went up to my room and logged in to Facebook on my laptop. Well to my luck the first post that came up was a picture of Luci and Azul. They were giving each other a hug and captioned it:

Totally the world's bestests of friends❤ #BFFL

I really felt like crying. I wasn't even gone a week and I was replaced. Just like that. I was replaced by my worst enemy. I don't know if I was upset or disappointed. Also "bestests" isn't even a word like I was for sure just brought down to earth.

I opened my inbox and seen a message from Azul asking about my day. Nope, she is a huge backstabber. I unfriended her and Luci. I mean I was in a completely new place now so I was going to make new friends.

1 New friend request

A few minutes later I got a new friend request and when I opened it. It was Alex! He sent me a friend request. I accepted it right away and then just like that. I got a message from him.

I think I may have made my first friend in Saybrook.
