Wanda didn't go to work the next day. Or the next. Or the next. She stayed at home still shaken of the event that occurred that Sunday. The memories were still fresh in her head. Bucky tried his best to cheer her up but failed. During the week she was at home Bucky worked so they could pay off the rent. As much as he wanted to stay home with her, he knew better. When Bucky came home he'd often find her either laying on the bed staring at nothing or sitting on a chair looking out the window. Wanda became unresponsive so Bucky made decisions for her.
That Friday when he found her in that same damn chair he decided enough was enough. He went up to her and squatted in front of her. She didn't do anything just blink. Her face remained emotionless. Bucky placed a soft kiss on her head.
"Come on," he told her while pulling her up. She didn't say anything just followed. He sat her down on the bed and put on her shoes for her. When they got to the door he slid on her coat. Again she didn't question it. They got in the car and drove off. Bucky held her hand the whole way there tracing circles around her knuckles. This action seemed to visibly calm her.
After about an hour Wanda's curiosity got the best of her so she spoke.
"Where are we?"
Bucky couldn't help but smile.
"You'll see," he told her.
Shortly he pulled over and from where they were parked it seemed like they were in a forest.
Bucky hopped out of the car and went to the other side to get Wanda. Once she got out, he put his hands over her eyes. She let out a giggle that Bucky missed so much.
"Watch your step," he told her as they started walking.
Soon they came to a stop and Bucky removed his hands. Wanda couldn't help but gasp at the view in front of her. The sun was setting and the city lights were as bright as ever.
"Oh, James, this is incredible," she told him while turning to face him.
"Not as incredible as you," he countered. She laughed as he placed his hands on her waist. He couldn't help but notice that her waist felt smaller than before. He pushed that aside and pulled her in for a long kiss. Her frame felt smaller than he remembered. Wanda noticed his discomfort and pulled away.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing," he said turning her around and putting his head on her shoulder, "I just missed you."
She continued to look at the view. Everything about her feels smaller, he thought to himself. They stayed like that until Wanda started to doze off. Bucky picked her up and carried her back to the car. He had his hand on her thigh the whole way back. But something didn't feel right. Even her thigh felt small. He knew something was wrong but couldn't figure out what.
..............................................................
Bucky woke up that night to a sound coming from the bathroom. He got up and when he got there his face dropped. Wanda was hunched over the toilet throwing up. He rushed to her side and held her hair up while rubbing her back.
After a while she flushed the toilet and sat against the wall panting. She was covered in sweat and her hair was a mess.
"Are you ok?" Bucky asked.
Wanda opens her mouth to speak but the stomach acid burns her throat. Instead she shakes her head and lifts up her shirt. Bucky's heart shatters at the sight. Her ribs are visible and it looks like she hasn't eaten in days. He looks at her and sees the tears streaming down her face. Using his thumb, he wipes away her tears.
Bucky gets up and runs the water for a bath. He undresses her, gently lifts her up and places her in the water. After washing and rinsing her off, he drys and puts her in one of his shirts. He gently lays her on the bed and watches as she sleeps.
Eventually Bucky gets up and goes out into the living room. He pulls out his phone and dials a number. It rings a few times before someone picks up.
"Hello?"
"Hey Clint, it's Bucky"
"Bucky? This better be important if you're calling at 3 in the morning"
Bucky sighs before responding. "It's about Wanda"
"What wrong with her?" Clint asked sounding more awake.
"Something happened this week and because of it she stopped eating. I think she's anorexic and i only found out a few hours ago. I-I don't know what to do."
Clint is silent for a minute.
"Listen Buck, what i'm about to tell you might not be what you wanna hear but it's what you need to know. Wanda's been anorexic for years. She got better after Ultron. It was hard to help her especially when i was the only one who she told. When her and Pietro lived on the streets they couldn't afford food."
"H-How do i help her"
"Just start by giving her liquids: smoothies, tea, juice, etc.. Then slowly make your way to solid foods. It doesn't have to be anything big." he told him slowly.
Bucky took a moment to process this.
"I know this is a lot to take in but i'm gonna need you to stay calm. For her and for yourself. Got it?"
"Y-Yeah"
"Okay get some sleep"
And with that he hung up. Bucky put his head in his hands and let a few tears out. He was scared about what was gonna happen to her. But he knew that he had to keep it together for her.
Soon Bucky got up and went back to their room. Wanda was still asleep in their bed. He went and laid beside her gently wrapping his hands around her waist and bringing her closer. In response Wanda laid her head on his chest.
"I'm not gonna stop until you're better. I can't lose you too"
