Langris Vaude...The vice-captain of the Golden Dawn has been one that has caught the eyes of many and for more than one reason. Yes he was powerful, that much was obvious, people wanted to fight him...and a lot of people did, though no one ever really challenged him face-to-face, that's why Yuno's challange had been such a shock to most of the Golden Dawn. Others had eyes on him because of his money and good looks, that was mainly directed towards the women who wished to one day have him as their husband. Thing was that Langis had next to no interest in marriage at all. What mattered him was the ability to carry on his family name with pride and succeed in any task that was given to him. He had even agreed to the arranged marriage between Finesse and himself...though that was a reluctant decision. He had yet to be married to her though...
You knew that you shouldn't be looking at a man that was already to be married, but you couldn't help it! He was good looking and strong...though you did have to admit that his attitude could use some work, especially towards his brother. You knew about the situation between Finral and himself? Yeah, you've known the two since childhood...but you weren't a noble. You were a normal child overall...a commoner.
There was nothing extraordinary about you, the only abnormal thing being that you never met your mother. You didn't know how she disappeared and apparently your father didn't either. He raised both you and your brother alone, the fact that he had no help in feeding two mouths only got you all into even more poverty.
At first that didn't seem to bother Langris or Finral at all and you had seen them as true friends. It had been that way for a while and for the most part...that's how you remembered them. You didn't know how, or why things had changed, but one day Langris...just snapped. You didn't even know why! Things that day were blurry and part of you just wished to forget that...and everything that had occurred before it. That way Langris' change wouldn't hurt so much.
To say the least...things had gone downhill from there and Langris was no longer a friend. He had left both Finral and yourself in the dust to fend for yourselves. That angered you the most. You had stuck with Finral after that, since you were a "worthless commoner", but even with him things began to change. He began to go after other women, flirt with them and the such. You had actually liked him at one point, but he had slowly began distancing himself too. You don't know if he meant it or not, but he still did. You didn't completely cut ties with him, but you didn't talk as much.
You were two years younger than Finral, and one year younger than Langris. You all took the Magic Knights exam on different years and you had all chosen different squads. Langris was in the Golden Dawn, Finral chose the Black Bulls, and you the Crimson Lions. Since then all communication with the boys had been limited. You didn't meet any of them or share missions. Through the time that had passed your crush on Finral began to fade away...but for some reason you had gained another crush...why of all people was it Langris? You had probably spent the least amount of time with him out of both! So why him!?
Your fist shook at another thought that ran through your head in the present. And why...why did you have to be on a stupid mission with him!? He was by no means the nicest person to cross paths with! Sure, he was a childhood friend...was! He's just intolerable now, he treats any commoner or anyone 'unworthy' like they belong on the bottom of his boot. That and he's engaged! Why like him of all people? Doing that...you're just asking to get rejected...and hard.
"Of all people to be paired with, why worthlessness scum like you?" Langris scoffed his hands at his side.
You narrowed your own but didn't answer, you own eyes glued to the floor. You didn't want to answer, you'd only piss him off and the last thing you need is a mad Langris as your partner...especially for a mission like this. You both were to infiltrate a ball hosted by a prosperous family. Apparently someone dangerous is out to try and kill them, both of you were to try and stop them from succeeding. You were chosen to go with him because you had a history with the thick skulled and self centered male.
