Hi my name is Laura Marie Marano, and I'm 16 years old. I have two sisters called Skyler Elizabeth, she is 17 and then there's Vanessa, she's 21, we don't see much of her though. Then there's my mom Ellen and my dad Damiano. Today was the first day at a new high school for the both of us. I'm very geeky, I like to get good grades, I don't have very many friends, but apparently that makes me different, compared to my sister she is really pretty, she has a nice personality, she's kind and she has a lot of friends. So like I said the complete opposite.
It was a normal Friday morning and Skyler was already ready to go. I got up a little later and got ready. We said goodbye to our parents and then left.
As me and Skyler walked in to the school, Skyler went the opposite direction to her lesson's as so did I. My first lesson was science, I have to admit I don't really like it, but I still try hard. I got in to the lesson to see Olivia and Summer Melody, I forgot to introduce them.....they are Ross Shor Lynch's sisters, Olivia is his twin. They are my best friends a long with Dove, Debby and Taylor. That's when I see Ross walk in with Maia, ugh I hate the both of them, they always bully me or just wind me up with their corny jokes. I roll my eyes and start to talk to the girls.
That's when I hear the most annoying voices sitting behind me. I don't respond and just face the front. Instead Summer and Olivia turn around and give him a mouthful, I have to admit I love those girls, and I'm glad we're friends. ''Actually, I was talking to Marano not you'' I heard Maia's voice say. Again I didn't respond. ''Oi, Marano'' I heard Ross's annoying voice call. I just turned that time. He just looked at me, I looked down. I just mumbled. ''What Ross?'' I said looking back up at him. ''Oh, nothing'' he said, beginning laughing. ''-I just wanted to annoy you that's all'' he finished. ''Oh you are pathetic Ross'' I heard Summer call to him. ''Stay out of it sis'' he said back to her. ''Ignore him Laura'' Olivia said, looking at me, I just gave her a slight nod.
After class, I was walking to my locker with all my books, parting ways with the girls I was nearly at my locker, when someone slapped their hand on my books, making them fall to the floor, I struggled as I tried to pick them up, with the crowds of people going to their next lesson. I just heard Ross laugh, I looked up to see him smirking at me, with Maia on his arm. I knew this day wasn't going to end well, with him around anyway.
It was lunch time, and I didn't have any lesson's with the girls, so I decided to go to the park and sit under the tree as I decided to listen to my music, just thinking. I was listening to Demi Lovato's new song, Really Don't Care. I felt that somehow, even though I have never had a boyfriend, that I connected to that song. After a while of thinking I couldn't hold it in anymore, burst in to tears, I just rested my head in my knees. ''What have I ever done to you?'' I kept mumbling to myself. Ross and Maia have no idea what I have been doing to myself, you may or may not know what I'm on about, they just make me feel so depressed with my life. I felt someone was behind me, I just took out of my headphones and turned to see Ross standing there looking guilty. I felt my eyes burn, what was he doing here? He had knew I had been crying so there's no point denying that. ''Why aren't you saying something offensive to me Ross, you normally do?'' I asked him. Not making eye contact. ''Because--'' he started. I knew it was coming. ''---I don't want to be horrible to you anymore'' he finished, I just scoffed. ''After all this time, why stop now?'' I replied. ''Only joking, I hate you Marano'' he nervously laughed, but I can tell that he really meant his last sentence. ''You can go now, Lynch'' I said turning my music up louder. He just smiled.
It had been the whole of lunch break, I decided to head back to school. Ross followed me, he had never left. I ignored him the whole way back. Our next class was with Summer and Olivia, the last double lesson of the day, it was a P.E. lesson, I went to my locker to get my clothes and headed to change. Today we we're outside, which meant we were playing dodge ball, perfect. ''Hey Laura'' Summer called. I walked over to the both of them giving a fake smile. ''Yeah we hate it to'' Olivia said. I rolled my eyes smiling. That's when I spotted Maia, she just gave me an evil smirk, and Ross from across the field, he wasn't smirking he was, smiling. Summer and Olivia both looked in the same direction. That's when Ross looked down and carried on with his football practise. It was half way through the lesson, I was on Summer, Olivia and Taylor's team. Dove and Debby we're on Maia's team, and you could tell they were hating every minute of it. Anyway make to the game, we we're casually playing and to be honest I'm not the best at sport, I mean I enjoy football and basketball, just not with Maia. We had restarted the game, and as our team went at the same time as Maia's she threw the ball at my head, and it must of been pretty hard, because Summer told me I blacked out on the field for a good fifteen minutes before waking up again.
I was finally awake, I had a slight headache, but I was fine. We were all getting changed and Summer and Olivia we're finished, so they left and waited for me outside. But by the time I got back to change my clothes we're covered in paint, I'm guessing that was Maia again, so I had to stay in my 'gym' outfit for the rest of the day, the teacher didn't tell the girls of though, why would she? It's Maia's mother who is our P.E. teacher, but she knows nothing of our feud, well her feud. And she is a nice person....
At the end of the day, Skyler, Summer, Olivia and I were hanging out at there's and to be honest I wasn't looking forward to it, because I knew Ross was going to be there, but I agreed, they are my best friends after all. We we're staying over. When we arrived I saw Ross laying on the couch, with Maia. She is so disgusting, they are both disgusting. We set up our things, as Stormie, their mother welcomed me and Skyler with a hug and a smile. For a while, us girls had to stay in the living room because Olivia and Summer we're having their rooms redecorated, that meant we had to sleep downstairs, with Ross. Yep that's right, Ross has a room downstairs and the living room is right next door to his room, which as I say with a lot of sarcasm, was fantastic. We chatted for a while as we had to sit there and psychically watch them two be absolutely disgusting, Ross and I exchanged glances from time to time, and as I was trying to have a conversation with the girls, I couldn't I just felt so uncomfortable with having to be in the same room with him.
About eight, it was time for a takeout which Stormie ordered. Maia had left, giving me a few stares, I just looked down. We sat at the table, I had to sit with Ross, Stormie made me sit there, she thinks that me and Ross are great friends. I fake smile again, we start eating, when all I see is Ross, smiling at me, I felt awkward and shy. I hardly spoke. Summer and Olivia both mouthed to me ''Sorry'' I just nodded. I saw Skyler glaring at Ross, as he looked to her he let out a few sighs. That's when Ross let out ''Ow!''. I looked directly to her, she smiled at me, he held in the pain, she had kicked him. I just felt like laughing. After we had finished, I offered to help Stormie clear up. ''Nonsense Laura'' she said smiling. ''-go and have fun'' she finished, as she gave me a slight push to leave and hang with the girls.
We watched movies, gossiped, which I didn't really take part in, we listened to music. We were not going to start throwing pillows around and have a pillow fight, it sounded fun though. It was about twelve o'clock. Skyler, Summer and Olivia we're asleep, but I just couldn't get to sleep. I quietly put on my Nikes and grabbed my hoodie, and unlocked the door to go outside in to the garden. I looked up at the sky, it was beautiful. I just gave a little smile and a sigh. ''Ya know, it's really cold to be sitting out here with just that on''. I turned to see Ross, he was standing right behind where I was sitting on the bench, he must of heard me get up. I nodded, then looked back up again. He then joined me. ''What are you doing out here anyway?'' he asked again. ''I can't sleep, I just like to think sometimes, ya know?'' I mumbled. ''Hmm..'' he said nodding his head. I let out a sigh. ''Me too'' he said, looking at me smiling. ''Please Ross, can you stop putting on this act that you're doing. Just say you're mean comment that I know you've been dying to say to me all day'' I said, changing the subject. ''Now, why would I want to do that?'' he said, looking me in the eyes. ''Because I know what you're like Ross-'' I started. ''--y-you bully me for no reason, you and Maia push me around as if I'm some type of rag doll, and I''. That's all I got to, before tears started to form in my eyes. ''--you're the popular and I'm a geek, that unlike you studies hard, doesn't skip class, and doesn't really have a social life, because of homework''. That was it, I had, had enough of Ross and by this time I was being really sarcastic. ''I'm sorry, Laura. It's just who I am'' he replied back to me. ''--I'm not like you Laura. I hate when people use to pick on me and--I just had to change my image'' he finished. ''Well how do you think I feel Ross?'' I questioned him, still crying. I stood up. ''For seven hours, five times a week I have to face you and Maia and you're gang of bullies and idiots''. He blankly looked at me. Didn't he get how much pain he had been causing me? See that's the kind of guy Ross Shor Lynch is, a cruel, bully. ''Can you please stop pretending like you're looking out for me or something, or trying to say sorry Ross. Because I know you, and people like you, they never change''. He stood up from where he had been sitting next to me. ''Well I am sorry Laura, for everything and I don't care if you believe me or not. I'm sorry, I'm sorry for everything did or said to you'' he said, with a serious look in his eye. Then he left, my eyes just followed his direction, and I followed his lead and locked the door as quietly as I could behind me, I saw him look back at me once or twice, shaking his head. At this point I didn't know what to believe after everything, and to be perfectly honest I don't know what to do, what.....has Ross Shor Lynch, changed?
