Here I was sitting in the living room on the sofa as my mom explained why she was sending me to live with my grandmother. We were getting evicted and my mother lost her section 8. All because of her boyfriend Troy. His pimping ass and them hoes behind him.

At this point I'm ready to go. I'm tired of always getting evicted, living in nasty ass motels, not having stability and watching Troy beat the shit out my momma. I never am alone with him either cause I always catch him looking at me with his pervertish ass. I'm only 16 you'd think he has some type of respect being that I'm the daughter of his woman and a teenager.

My get away from this bullshit was school. I kept straight A's. For me to be so pretty, other than my face I didn't have shit to show for it. I wore the same shit like every week. My mom was to busy investing into Troy and he wasn't spending a dime on us. Shit even when we wasn't busy getting evicted and was in an apartment it always went bad because we either couldn't pay the light bill, water, or rent. I was tired.

I thought I would've been mad but you know what send me the fuck off!

"I just need to get myself together Taina.. do you understand me baby?" She sat next to me looking at me pitiful as if she felt bad. I just nodded my head with my arms folded. "Okay your flight is for tonight at 7:30" she got up "Come on let's get you packed" she smiled.

Damn tonight? She just couldn't wait.

I don't even know why she thinks I need help packing I don't even have shit. I packed my things the little clothes I had fit in one little duffel bag.

"Hear it's your grandmother" she handed me her track phone. "Hey grandma" I said softly. I love my grandma. I get excited when she visits because she make me feel whole and takes care of me while she's here. "Hey honey, listen you're going to love it! You'll have your own room and I'll even give you an allowance you know I have my own restaurant and bakery and business is doing really well. You can even get a job in the restaurant. You start school on Monday so once you get here tonight we'll get you settled in and tomorrow we'll go shopping for whatever you want and need. I promise you're life is going to get better than what it's been lately." She convinced me.

"Okay grandma see you in a few I guess" we hung up. Now that she had me all excited I was ready to go. I deserve this. I didn't have friends anyway or shit to look back on. Maybe a new start was what God wanted for me right now. I wish my mom would come too and leave Troy old fuck ass but I guess she likes that shit.

Not me. I love her but I refuse to grow up and live like her. I'll learn from her mistakes.

Once I landed my grandmother got me settled in the house. She gave me the master bedroom because she said what a 67 year old like her need that big ol room for. I was thankful but I didn't need that space either. She saw I didn't come with anything so she took me to Walmart to get some things and clothes. Tomorrow we was going to the mall though. I can get used to this..

"Granny so about working in the restaurant.. I want to. I don't wanna just sit around after school when I can be working and making my own money" I stated. She nodded understanding my decision. "Okay you can work as a waitress during the week and I'll have you baking in the bakery on the weekends".

"Your allowance is going to be $250 every week plus what you make working so I think you'll be fine. The restaurant waitress pay is $10 and hour and the bakery is $11 and hour so you'll be doing good for a 16 year old" she smiled. Whenever my grandmother was around she spoiled me.

"Thank you so much grandma for everything.. it was rough but this seems like a better life here with you for me I love you" I smiled and embraced Her with a tight hug.
