Streams of warm light stroked my face as my eyes fluttered open. "Strange, I would've thought my alarm had gone off already," I thought, clenching a tatty clump of my brown locks.
*beep beep beep beep...*
"Ah there it is, the sound of my agony!" I groaned through a yawn.
Believe it or not I actually used to be good at mornings. Ever since mum passed I have been, well, different...
"Honey, I made breakfast, but I've got to go to work now, don't be late for school!" Dad bellowed up the staircase
"I'll be fine dad don't worry about me! Love you!" I replied
"Love you too!" I heard him say as the slam of the door shuddered the house.
"Alone again, I can't wait to see Jake though, he's always had a way of making me feel better."
Thinking of him gave flutters in my stomach as if butterflies were aimlessly trying to escape me. We had always been friends but sometimes I would wonder, what if our measly little friendship could grow, and I couldn't help thinking he felt the same too.
I lifted my blouse and slipped it on, its coarse woollen texture scraping my skin. I hated our uniform, it made me feel ugly, it's quite hard trying to impress someone without expressing yourself in your own clothes! Though, when I saw him outside of school I always made an effort.
8:25am
The sunken pathway dived in the light that surrounded me, my black school shoes clacking against the solid ground. Cars flew passed me whisking my hair across my face, I tried my best to tuck it neatly behind my ears but to no avail as my mop of hair blinded me even more.
"Ugh!!! Why didn't I tie it up this morning?!" I squealed, not acknowledging the figure that loomed beside me.
"Girl problems?" The figure laughed. "Hilarious!"
I felt the rage bubbling inside me from the words "Um, well YOU have NO idea what the HELL i go through I have had a BAD ENOUGH LIFE without INSOLENT LITTLE SH*TS like you giving RUDE REMARKS at the start of my day!!!" I exclaimed, my words trailing off into a mumble as I sweeped the hair away from my eyes. I felt a flush of heat brush my cheeks which were probably scarlet.
A tall boy stood beside me, straw hair fell around his face and sapphire eyes gleamed out. He had a strong build and he stood proudly. He stared at me in surprise.
"You're a feisty one aren't you!?" He said combing his hair back to reveal his attractive face
"Haha whatever," i laughed nervously turning to one side "he's hot, act cool!" I whispered to myself.
"What was that?" He grinned.
"Hm?"
"Uh, what's your name?" He asked. He seemed to be walking with me now.
"First of all, why would I tell you, second, why are you walking with me?" I said
He grinned and pointed to the school badge on his blazer. "If we're going to the same school, I might as well know your name..."
"HOLY SH*T HOLY SH*T HOLY SH*T!" I thought "i couldn't have missed guy THIS good looking walking around our school!"
"Uh, Eden, my name's Eden," I smiled,
"Well Eden it's nice to meet you," he smiled back. My heart was literally racing so hard I thought it would burst out of my chest.
"And what's your name?" I asked
"Aiden Rivers"
