The Magician

I was heading home after my shift ended. It was past midnight. Due to my work I barely get time for myself. ' I just wanna reach home fast and sleep. I feel so tired ugh. ' I walked as I kept on repeating the same things again and again. 

I noticed the street was kinda empty tonight usually there are some people around as lot of students come in this area to eat while doing projects or assignments. I kept looking around to just to find no one. ' So thats how late night streets looks like huh?  '  I thought. I started walking faster as I kinda got creeped out.

Still looking around to find any hint of people being near, but there was no one. as if no one lives in this area. It felt like my house was miles away when I don't remember it taking me so long to reach before.

I got scared. My guts were screaming for me to run out of there. I tried to keep myself calm and fastened up my pace a little bit more. The more faster I got, I felt the more bigger the streets were becoming.

I looked around again to check if any of the 24hour restaurant were open to spend the night there. All the shops and restaurants were closed. There were no lights except the street lamps. ' There were supposed to be some restaurant open at this hour...' I thought as I was biting my nail in panic.

I walked some more. Then suddenly I saw a man. A man in suit, standing under a street lamp. He was just standing there, holding onto his cane. After seeing him, something in me wanted to approach this mysterious man but some part of me knew that it wasn't a good idea. I was wondering where did came from all of a sudden. There was no sign of any human being here just a while ago.

I was scared and panicking, so seeing someone made me feel relieved I guess. I approached him with curiosity even though I knew I should just go past him and run for home. He looked at me as I was getting near.

" Hello Miss! " He greeted with a smile while bowing like a gentleman. His voice was deep, and a smile that could charm anyone, Tall and with the looks you could kill for.

" What is a beautiful lady like you doing here this late at night? You should be home taking your beauty sleep haha. " He said with a laugh

" Yeah...I just got off from my shift and it got late. " I tried to say it with a smile. Trying hard not to show my panicking state. 

" Miss you look very stressed. Was your day that hard? " his voice sounded full of concern. 

" Haha yes I guess I worked too much for the day. " I said while hiding the stress i just got from all these creepiness of the streets.

" Oh my! Then...how about I lighten up your mood a little bit? " he asked and continued do do something.

His hand reached near my left ear and got a candy from behind it. It was a simple trick. Nothing very special but at that moment It did made my mood lighten up a bit. 

He offered me the candy and I gladly took it. He then bowed just like the magicians do. He then took out some cards from inside his suit. Shuffled it then gestured me to pick one. I took one and looked at it. It was Queen of diamonds. He gestured me to put it down again and shuffled the cards some more. After some search through the cards he picked up the one I saw before. 

" Wow! That's the one. It was great. You know a lot of tricks, huh? Are you a magician?" I asked after clapping for his efforts of making me smile.

" Thank You milady! " bowed again and then continued to answer. " Yes, I do magic tricks at a nearby circus. We had a late show for tonight. Would you like to come and see it? " he asked as he held his hand out for me to reach it. But this was the point where I knew I should not get any more involved with him.

" I would really love to, but I'm sorry....I need to head home and take that beauty sleep you were talking about. I have work tomorrow. So maybe next time. " I tried to be as much polite as I could and declined his offer.  He just smiled at me and gestured for me to pass by.

" By the way Mr. Magician... What's your name? " I asked 

" Kim Namjoon. And may I know my lady's name please? " He asked 

" It's Lee y/n. It was nice knowing you. Thank you for the tricks! Hope to see some again. " I bid goodbye as I walked away from him.

My mood did got lightened up by his tricks and the streets felt normal again. Some shops were open as I walked some more. I was smiling ear to ear, in my thoughts of Namjoon.

As i was thinking of him, I remembered the candy he gave me. I unwrapped it and ate it. The moment it went through my throat, I saw him again. Standing there, putting his back on the a wall for support. 

" Hello Y/n! We met again I see. Maybe we are destined for each other? " He said with a smirk.

I laughed it off and said " Haha maybe. Is this another one of your tricks? This was was really good. How did you really get here so fast? " Ignoring the fact he was smirking at me before.

" No magician reveals their secrets you know. " He still kept that smirk of his on his face. That smirk was telling me  that I should avoid his at all cost.

" I guess so.... I should go now it's getting late now. You should head to your show maybe. Bye! " I tried walking passed him but he kept on matching my footsteps. I didn't want him to know my address so I took a different rout. " Imma head this way now so you can head to the circus. " I tried my best to make him stop following me.

I walked away leaving him behind. I walked some more to reach the same spot where we parted. Him standing there, waiting for me. " You took the wrong way Y/n. Why? Were you trying to hide your home from me? Haha but what if....I already know about it? " He came near me.

Before he could come any near I ran off. But no matter what I kept on coming to the same place as I started. He took out handcuffs out of his suit and suddenly my hands were cuffed and legs were tied. I still tried to run but failed and fell on the ground. Still dragging myself to one of the shops that were open for help. But again all the shops were shutdown. 

" You can't escape my lady. Your are in my world now. Whatever you saw was an illusion made by me. Nobody is here to help you. Surrender yourself to me. " He bent down as he saw my pity self trying to get up.

I managed to get up and tried to hopping far from him. My arms and knees were bleeding a little due to the fall. But I didn't care. All I wanted was to stay alive. I was now quite far from him but then a car hit me. My head was spinning due to the sudden friction. Then I saw a person coming out from the car. ' I knew it!! I knew there were people around! ' I got happy and excited.

" PLEASE HELP ME!!!! SOMEONE IS AFTER ME!!! PLEASE GET ME TO A PLACE WHERE THERE ARE LOT OF PEOPLE AROUND!!! " I screamed for help as I managed to get up. 

But when I reached the driver, it wasn't the person I saw. It was Kim Namjoon.

" Now sweetie, Shall we take you somewhere where your mood could be lightened up? I'm pretty sure you can fine lots of people there....some could be even alive haha. "
