It was the day of Jason Todd's funeral. Dignitaries from all over the world were in attendance. Gotham had decided to be it's gloomy self, so a person looking from a birds eye view into a grave yard would only see a sea of black umbrellas. After the ceremony the sea flowed out the gate and into waiting cars, avoiding the flashing lights of reporters. Soon there were only 2 umbrellas left and a man kneeling at the grave.
Dick's POV:
Its been three hours since the funeral ended. Bruce hasn't moved, even when Alfred asked (demanded) for him get up. Alfred was standing beside me, his eyes sad at the loss of Jason and the state of his master (son).
"Is there anything we can do to get him out of the rain?" I ask, desperate to get my mentor (dad) out of the rain before he caught a cold. Alfred just shook his head.
"In the couple of times I've seen Master Bruce like this only one person could ever get him up." I look at him, shocked.
"You couldn't?" Alfred's face had a small smile on it.
"No. Only Wendy could, but I doubt she even knows about you and Jason or that Jason is dead!" He shook his head, "Otherwise she would be here and Master Bruce might allow himself to cry. But ever since... the incident... she and Master Bruce haven't been able to speak."
I was in shock before, but now?!?! Bruce had a female friend that he obviously like and allowed himself to show emotion? But what does Alfred mean by the incident? And why is he implying that something is keeping this woman, Wendy, away. And damn, when did Alfred learn to talk for so long?
Suddenly the noise from reporters outside began to surge. "Your highness over here!" Wait WHAT!!! Alfred gasps.
"It can't be!?!? Her grandmother would never allow her to, would she?" He turned on his heel and strode towards the cemetery gates. Not wanting to leave Bruce, who hadn't moved at all, I look over my shoulder. To see Alfred hugging a woman in a deep red gown?!?! WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?! Alfred pulled back and gestured to me. The woman turned her head to smile at me and walked over.
"Hi." she says, holding out her hand. "My names Wendy."
Hi everyone. This is my first story so feedback is welcome! Just to make it clear, I don't do sex scenes but implications of sex may work their way in. I haven't read the comics so this story may not be accurate. Bruce is going to be 36 and Wendy is 28. Wendy is the female version of Wally West and will be the Flash, girl in mans clothing. Dick is going to be 22 (adopted at the age of 8) and Jason will be 17. and the justice league was formed 10 years ago but no one (except bats's but he doesn't know Flashes) knows anyone else's identity. Anyway, enjoy the story!
