Chapter 13: Whispers of Rivalry
written in kang hyeseul's povAs we made our way through the corridors of HYUN.E, an electrifying excitement filled the air.
Felix and Saejin walked ahead, discussing past events and collections, while I trailed slightly behind, my thoughts racing as I tried to absorb everything around me.
"Do you remember our launch in Vegas?" Felix asked, his eyes sparkling with nostalgia.
"The one where Hyunjin unveiled our very first collection? The lights, the atmosphere-the event itself was out of this world!"
Saejin nodded with a proud smile on her face. "Absolutely! I was so impressed by how everything came together. The way Hyunjin orchestrated the show was commendable. That night felt like magic!"
I remained silent, listening to their reminiscences.
"I wish I could have been there..." I thought, a twinge of envy creeping in.
I had spent my time honing my craft in the shadows, working tirelessly on my designs, while they had always been part of the spotlight at HYUN.E.
"I can still remember the crowd's reaction. Everyone was buzzing about the collection for weeks. It really solidified Hyunjin's vision for the brand." Felix continued, his voice rising with excitement.
"Yeah, it was such an unforgettable memory. That night was when we truly became a family-everyone came together to celebrate our creativity and hard work."
Family. The word stung a bit.
I was still trying to find my place in this new environment, struggling with the feeling of being an outsider in a company that had already established its legacy.
As we reached our workspace, I took a deep breath, pushing my insecurities aside.
The large table was filled with swatches of fabric, sketches, and design notes, a chaotic canvas that represented our upcoming project.
We settled into our seats, the energy in the room shifting as we prepared to dive into our discussion.
"Okay, let's brainstorm some ideas for our centerpiece." Saejin said, her tone shifting from nostalgic to business-like.
"What do you think we should focus on to embody the 'Song of the Sirens' theme?"
Felix looked at me expectantly. "Hyeseul, you've got a fresh perspective. What are your thoughts?"
I hesitated, glancing between them.
What could I possibly contribute? They were seasoned designers with a wealth of experience and memories I couldn't relate to.
But I couldn't let that hold me back. I had to prove myself.
"Uhm... maybe we could explore the idea of fluidity in the designs?" I suggested, my voice steadying.
"Something that captures the allure of the sirens-like fabrics that flow and shimmer, drawing people in. Perhaps incorporating elements that evoke water or movement?"
