Twine

I grit my teeth and feel my heart clench.

Every word you say floats around me and distorts my senses.

My skin feels electric as we graze shoulders.

You make my soul feel drenched.

Sparks clash and fight when I see you.

Everything in me tells me that you are what I need,

But everything surrounding us tells me that you don't need me.

The stew of conflicting feelings starts to brew.

The excuses pile up higher than I can count.

My blood starts to boil at the sight of you.

Those butterflies have turned to jagged stones in my stomach.

My frightening fears have started to surmount.

You have been a catalyst to a conflicting war growing within me.

I ache for you in every way thought of before,

But jealousy has plagued my weak heart.

All this talk has my head churning like a sea.

All I want is to call you mine.

My feelings have weight when I am with you,

But I know that you don't see me the same.

Oh, how I wish to be free of this tangled mess locking us together, to be free of this twine.
