I felt a vibration before I realized what was causing it. It was pitch black until I realized where I was. I felt a body, it was still slightly warm, lying next to me was the body of a woman, before I could make out who she was. The strong smell of blood was causing me to want to gag. I felt something smeared across my face, to be more exact on my cheek and forehead. I began to scratch it with my nails and tiny flakes began to come off.
When the car gained speed, the body rolled on top of me. Was it Dinah ? I pushed the body away from me with a sob, I hoped she still was alive.
Before I could compose myself, my body began to move towards the front of the truck. A dim light began to flood in.
It was Dinah's body. The moonlight lit her hair which was soaked in her own blood. The huge wound on her skull made her look almost unrecognizable. Her eyes and mouth were opened in a horrific panic, expression and her neck bones where trying to pop out of her skin like a needle through a piece of fabric. I quickly moved away, also pushing her body away from me again as I closed my eyes and hung my head out of the car so could vomit towards the ground. I began to inhale deeply, appreciating the air blowing towards me.
I was dizzy and confused alongside nausea, I slowly raised my eyes and came to face with someone. He was tall, he stood over me, looking at me as if I were his prey. The car shook again and two more people's faces appeared.
One of them said "What the hell is this? You said they were both dead." One of them had a scared and confused face.
" I thought they were," the tall man said, his lips moved very slowly as if he were thinking as he spoke.
"What the hell are we supposed to do now, Austin?" The person on the right had their attention turned away from me, making it difficult to know what he was saying.
"Kill her" There was no mistaking what he had just said. I began to tremble in panic, when I registered the words. I looked back to the man on the right, perhaps he would disagree with Austin. His eyes returned to me without a trance of remorse for what he was about to do.
A third person  who I hadn't noticed before stood on the left. They moved quickly, grabbing me by the shoulders and throwing me from the car. A excruciating pain shit up my body as I was dragged across the bumper and then over rough ground. My clothes were ripping, I began to kick my legs furiously, trying to find my footing so I could stand. As soon as I was on my feet, I felt a body press up against my back, holding me up and pinning my arms in front of my chest, with one strong hand around my wrist. The other hand fingered the material of my shirt, and flipping the ends of my hair, while pointing to my shoes. I couldn't see the person who was holding me. Their grip was firm yet their rough fingers held me gently. Austin and the other person stared at me, it seemed as if I was a prize to them.
"The basement? It could work." Austin nodded at the person behind me before he locked eyes with me.
"What's your name?"
A flashback came to my mind. We were standing by the side of the road, with our thumbs up, hoping to find our way back to a city of reasonable size. The beach had been pleasant during the day, but once the wind had picked up, the area between the road and cliff's edge offered no protection. It was getting dark so she stepped in front of me, turning to explain about how her white shirt would be more visible than my dark blue one. A car came around the bend, completely out of control, and the last thing I remember was being thrown over the hood of a car as her head smacked the windshield.
Dinah. Her name was Dinah.
Austin waved his hands in front of me.
"What is your name?" He reappeared his question. They hadn't realized.
The wind blew at my nose and chin and I couldn't keep my hair from flying in between us. Austin didn't seem to mind and moved within inches from my face. The arms behind me hugged tighter.
      "What. Is. Your. Name."
I felt a warm breath on my ear and turned my eyes from Austin. The person holding me had their lips close to my face and they were saying something that I couldn't decipher from the angle I was at.
Fingers harshly grabbed my chin and turned my face.
"Answer me!"
I could feel the vibrations from his yell. His breath smelled like rum. I managed to free one of my hands.
C-A-M-I-L-A. I spelled my name, knowing they wouldn't understand.
"What the hell was that?" Austin started laughing and he turned back to the smaller person, who stood by the car.
"Sign language?" Austin's attention suddenly returned to me. I took a deep breath and brought my free hand to the side of my face. My fingers went to my ear, tapping lightly as I shook my head.
"Shit. She's deaf," he said to the person behind me.
Someone spun me around and I came face to face with a pair of brilliant green eyes if you looked close enough you could see hints of blue, they were like a galaxy of colors. Her dark and thick eyebrows furrowed beneath her forehead. Her jaw was kind of squared and it looked strong.
"Can you read lips?"
I nodded slowly.
Her lips twitched into a sly and sordid smile.
"Can you speak?"
I didn't answer at first, I wasn't sure I wanted them to know the truth. Maybe it would be a lot easier if they didn't know everything I was capable of. So I shook my head, swallowed my answer in my throat, and lied. Silence hadn't scared me in this way since I was six years old.
She still held my shoulders in her strong hands. She squeezed me harder and I thought for a moment she was trying to reassure me. However, the look on this woman's face told me otherwise. This gesture was one of domination and it terrified me.
Suddenly and without warning, I was thrown over her shoulder, my body hanging down her back like a sack of potatoes. I almost vomited again from the pain in my chest but I managed to look under her arm and see the smaller man pull Dinah from the car, her head and arms bouncing as she fell from the truck. With Austin's help, he pulled her by the feet to the cliffs edge. I didn't want to think about what was going to happen to her body. With a final push she rolled out of sight and into the violent waves below.
As I was thrown back into the trunk, I clung to the shirt of the girl with green eyes. I struggled to get out of the trunk, grabbing her plaid flannel shirt. Her hands pinned my shoulders to the carpeted floor.
"Stop. You'll hurt yourself."
The door closed on top of me and my silent world went black. My screaming did nothing but make my throat burn. If a tree falls in the forest when no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound? If a scream in the silence, will anyone be around to hear it?
