Joy
"Joy!!! Wake up!" My mom shouted, waking me up fully. "Come on baby, you'll be late for your first day at school." She opened my blinds and the sun's rays hurt my eyes. I rubbed my eyes and nose as a stared at her. "Mom come on. I'm not going to high school, I'm going to college so stop treating me like a baby." My voice hoarse from the sleep.
"Well I've run you a bath and prepared breakfast for you."
Mom, she always knew what I needed.
I smiled and got up, did my bed and went to brush my teeth.
As soon as I was done with everything, I liked what mom made me wear. I thought. I wore a pair of blue torn jeans, a black long sleeved top, a matching black belt and a pair of black leather ankle boots. I combed my hair neatly up into a bun and had a little mascara on. I looked good.
"Goodbye Mom, tell Daddy I'm already gone. Love you." I said rushing out.
"Enjoy Sweety".I stepped out of the bus. I felt nervous. I've never been to college before. How is the vibe here? How is the atmosphere? Will I make friends easily? Am I academically ready? I shook my head off the thoughts and I looked around and I saw a huge black gate where students queued. I went and stood at there as well. Then it was my turn, one of the college staff who wore a red t-shirt written Rosebank college handed me my student card and smiled at me with the red lipstick painted on her teeth and said "Welcome to Rosebank college and I hope you'll like it here."
"Thank you." I smiled back sheepishly accepting what she handed then headed where everyone was going.
There was a huge green garden and many different coloured flowers that compliment it. Looking up, I saw a 12 storey white, black and red building written the words Rosebank College: The Independent Institution.
"Okay first year students follow me." Said the school guide. He was tall and skinny. To my surprise, he wore skinny black jeans, a white formal shirt, a rainbow scarf and see-through fancy glasses. He wore a shiny lip gloss and polished his nails pink.
"So this is the first floor, the library." He pointed to the left. " The finance office." He pointed to the right.
"And the elevators".Leaving everyone, I stood in front of the elevator door fascinated by its fancy and smart features. I pressed a floor number without remembering. A few minutes later, it opened and I saw a tall, light skinned tanned person. He wore a red and black scotched shirt, black torn jeans and black Doctor Martans. His jaw line was sharp and he had curly brown hair. I couldn't help but notice the lion tattoo on his neck. Covered by gold chains. His eyes... His eyes. His eyes were hazel brown and had green faded in them. Wow! How did a person have such beautiful eyes.
"Are you gonna get in or...?" He said in a husky and deep voice.
I didn't say anything.
"Okay then. I guess I'll close the door."
He said pointing at the button.
I still didn't say anything.
"Look Miss. I have to get going okay." He flashed his hands.
"Wait. Are you... deaf? I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to...uhm..You know." He said touching his lips.
After he said that, I went out running. Embarrassed.
"Hey! Did I say something wrong?" He asked in his husky voice.I didn't look back. I was ashamed. How could my first day be like this? I heard the elevator door ding and close.
I closed my eyes so tight I could barely feel them. Who was he?Author's Note
