Chapter 2
*Mia's POV*
Why oh why does today have to drone on for such an exceptional period of time, the first day of the week isn't even over yet and I'm already exhausted. The amazing teachers which belong to our majestic schooling system make everything a thousand times worse. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that I'm receiving education but the educators are a huge NO.
*Flashback to first period*
"Miss Jones, why haven't you competed your homework. I am not going to deal with this lousy behaviour of yours anymore, I want to see some enthusiasm from you. Do you understand me?"
Oh dear lord please save me from the wrath of this soul sucking demonic being present before me and kindly cause some miracle which makes me disappear off the face of this earth.
"Miss Jones are you even paying attention to anything I've said so far?", she let out a fat sigh which would surely knock a few cockroaches off their little feet.
"Wait what? Oh yeah... I'm... uh sorry about that. I assure you that this won't occur again.", holy shit Mia what the hell has gotten into you, girl I swear you deserve to be whacked across the head with a freaking concrete slab.
"It better be that way miss Jones because I will not hesitate to contact your parents."
Was that necessary you old fossil?
"This certainly won't happen again.", I mumbled.
"Hmm I am taking your word on this one."
For fucks sake could you carry on with the lesson and stop wasting time.
There were a bunch of snickers and gasps from around the classroom.
"EXCUSE ME YOUNG LADY! That type of language is unaccepted and for that you are given two hours of detention after school."
"Wait. I said that out loud. Okay damn that was not supposed to happen.", I sighed.
"Collect your detention slip from me after class and please keep your quips to yourself."
That I shall do your royal highness.
If she thought that I was going to respond to her pointless nonsense then she is wrong. Oh how I wish I could strangle her with the tapestry on the back wall but violent thoughts won't get me far... or would it?
Okay enough of this Mia, you need to pay attention if you want to pass this class.
*End of Flashback *
And finally the last two periods of the day, I have waited for this moment the entire day and my not so patient patience has finally paid off.
The last hell to conquer is maths, definitely not one of my strongest subjects but we're going with the flow because there's no other option. Honestly I really miss my dear bed, I wonder how he's coping without me. No matter how much I try to pay attention to this class I just can't and my inability to focus when it I'm really required to is really going to land me in some deep, deep trouble.
As I looked to the front with hopes of paying some form of attention and that was until I felt someone's eyes on me. I tried to remain unphased and unbothered by the intense stare that was being directed at me but unfortunately I began to squirm. The perks of being an anxious wreck (definitely not a perk at all). I was torn between flinging my notebook and letting it hit the person where the stare is coming from or I could just stay put and allow my overthinking brain to have much more to think about and overanalyse. I obviously went for the second one because it's me we're talking about.
Since I couldn't focus on any words being spoken by Mister Johnson I put my head down. I had just gotten my mind off the irritating and creepy person staring at me when I received a kick at my chair. I ignored it thinking it was a mistake and just managed to calm my racing heart down when my chair started getting kicked again and this time it seemed deliberate.
Oh my god what the hell is this irregular kicking pattern, if you wanted to do it at least have a set rhythm. Person you're so... urgggghhh.
"Uhh please could you stop.", I stated.
"What.", he said with annoyance laced in his voice.
"Please stop kicking my chair."
"No."
"Stop it right now.", I harshly whispered trying to mask the annoyance in my voice.
Thankfully my whispers had an effect on him but unfortunately it didn't last for long, he began his weird tapping thing again but this time in a set rhythm. That was good enough for me so I didn't say anything to him.
School was about to be dismissed in roughly five minutes and the thought of going home caused a chill to run down my spine. My leg began shaking uncontrollably just at the idea of facing the people at home. I tried to calm myself down but that only resulted in making things worse than they are.
"Hey, is everything okay?", chair kicking guy asked.
I was unable to form a coherent response so I subtly nodded my head.
"That was not convincing at all."
"Miss Jones and Mister Collins, could you two please stop disrupting my lesson, you may continue your conversation on your own time."
I could feel the heat traveling from my cheeks and spreading due to embarrassment, thankfully my curtain of hair was there to cover my face.
Oh how I wish I could go home right now.
My wishes had been answered by the bell but unfortunately Mr Johnson was a ' the bell doesn't dismiss you, I do ' type of teacher.
"Class you may leave "
I was actually shocked. Oh it's all for the best, as soon as the words left his mouth I speed walked towards the door, I didn't have to be told twice. It was weird seeing a sixteen year old walking along the corridors all alone but that's life I guess. It was kind of sad but I didn't want to get too attached to people. I will admit that I have many acquaintances but no friends and honestly I prefer it that way.
I needed to find an afterschool job again since the place I worked by had to close down leaving me jobless ofcource. I have a bit of money saved up to fuel my minor coffee addiction but that is definitely going to run out soon.
I began walking towards my house and dreaded going back there, okay it's my house but still. I honestly can't stand it there, just two more years and I am out of there and living my life doing what love. Whatever that would be. Once I had reached my street I noticed a truck next door and that could only mean one thing, NEW NEIGHBOURS. Oh my word finally some excitement in my life, I was glad that the window next to mine would be occupied by a living and breathing human. The poor house has been abandoned for the past three years and it was about time that it received the love it deserves. It was actually highly surprising but I won't question it. I really wonder who our new neighbours are.
