A/N: This is my first story on Wattpad, so just...bare with me. It's a Free! Fanfic, with Makoto as the main character. Bleh, it's short because It's just a little of the beginning ._.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Makoto stood at the shore of the beach, taking a deep breath. He glanced up at the starry night sky and smiled slightly, closing his eyes and taking everything in. He slowly removed his shirt, pants, shoes, and socks, revealing a swimsuit. He stuffed his clothes gently under a rock so they wouldn't get lost. He moved to the edge of the shore, watching the calm ocean water roll in and out. Makoto was going to attempt to get rid of his fear of the ocean tonight. The calm waters made Makoto feel a little better. He sucked in a deep breath. "I'm going to do this." He muttered to himself. "The water is calm, so it can't do any damage."

Slowly, Makoto began walking out into the water, away from the shore. He smiled slightly as he walked, soon waist deep in water. "This isn't so bad." He mumbled quietly to himself. "This is actually kind of nice." He whispered. Usually, he wouldn't be talking to himself. But he needed to talk to someone; he needed reasurrance. When Makoto was chest deep in water, he paused and began swimming out farther. He stopped when the water was up to the bottom of his neck. He smiled slightly, repeating what he had assured himself earlier. "This really isn't that bad." He nodded. He looked over the beautiful water, just...taking in its beauty. He felt a drop of water from above, and then another. Then another, and another, and another. Soon, it began pouring rain. It was odd; the sky was sparkling and clear just a moment ago.The water began getting slightly choppier, but not enough for Makoto to panic. He felt the rain pelt him and he sighed. "I need to go back now." He mumbled to himself, just trying to keep himself calm for the most part.

All of the sudden, booms and cracks of thunder and lightning played above him, and wind bit the water and his cheeks from every angle. He felt panic beginning to stir inside of him but he didn't show it. He continued swimming back to shore, as big waves began forming. Suddenly, the harsh current pulled Makoto out farther in the water. He gasped slightly, trying to get his feet on the sandy ground. He felt slightly relieved as he could stand just barely on his tip toes. He attempted back to shore again. The cracks and booms of thunder and lightning grew louder and the wind began tossing the water around violently. Makoto yelped slightly as a huge wave pushed him farther back, the current helping to do so. He tried to touch the bottom but couldn't; it was way too deep. Makoto glanced behind himself, trying one more time to swim back. Immediately; the harsh water pulled him under. The pressure of the current and waves made it hard for him to push back up. He was drowning. Makoto cried out for help, now panicking.
