Sleep would not come.

It grazed her eyelids and kissed her aching muscles snug under the bed sheet, but her head was flooded. It rose just above her forehead, lapping against her skull's concave. She choked out a strained whimper every time the bottom of her reflections scraped the anchor; she never realized how shallow she'd been swimming. Maybe the ocean splitting the two souls were a sign, just like with Jordan, the tide would evade the shores too high.
Her eyes flickered back open, and caressed over where she rested. Her arms were clamped around Perrie's arm which twitched at the stir of Jesy's grip, but hadn't strummed her nerves enough to wake her. Just above her head, she could hear the ripple of soft snoring drift from Jade and Leigh Anne's stiffened posture into her ears. It wasn't the looming of the airport lights keeping her up, or the murmur of civilians lamming her peace, or even a sliver of energy still tattering over comatose- in fact, she had never caught herself in a more diluted state, but the distress glassed in her eyes captured her and no one else.

"Only a few more days," she breathed from her discolored lips, shrinking herself into her sweatshirt where warmth still pondered.

Smiling to herself- his hug would've clustered them in heat; not only on her body, but flushed in her cheeks when he'd whisper to her how tight her clutch on his back was. Questions thrashed her brain when he would mumble cheeky things like that in her ear as fast as the blood thrashes her skin. Where had her shameless persona go? Why hadn't she brushed off his bold remark and clamor something back? He's an awfully submissive fellow- one with footprints smattered across his back, and scratches racking his knees. A cute scrunch in his nose when he laughs or the quiffed fringe refrained from tickling his forehead, it had her vex thinned- she felt safe.

But he wasn't hers; she was the least of his admirers. Her profile must've been distorted into a different facial polish to him by now- a finer and fairer complexion with smaller features. She hovers her thumb over his contact, stroking at the photo she chose as his ID photo. One tap of her fingertip, and she'd be en route to hear his voice, have it be entwined with what she pined to say. The only tangible suppression of her yearn was the overlap of time. Back in the UK, nightfall was thicker into the slumber hours; the boy would have a quake in his voice, and distance in his mind.

That's what she wanted to believe.

Perhaps he was awake, lying on his tummy, fingers frantically drumming a response back to another singer or slimmed goddess in his life. Without a second reflection, he'd trash her request. It's better to leave him without the recollection of him on her mind, so down her phone toppled to the floor- a muted thud not far behind.

It's funny. The smile waned on her lips was brimming again, but not for him, for grasping the idea that a silly boy was staggering her away from sleep. The thought of how much control he possessed over her with merely the curve of his mouth or the fallen star in his eye; she swore to never grasp another skim.

Jesy fluttered her eyes to a close, stilting every ounce of focus on her inhales and exhales. Only a few thoughts still encircled her head before her buzz collapsed, and so did her pact.

Sleep isn't promiscuous; it remains loyal to those who truly desire it.

Jake didn't want it. He bound the white bulbs on the brightest glow he could, hoping his exhaustion wouldn't collapse on top of him, swarm his face and choke him to pulse less lethargy.

"Come on," he ghosted from his drooping lips. "A text, or call."

His face divided the duvet into the cast of his profile while the sections not pinned to his features emphasized their easing respiration.

"Something.." dispersed his jaded voice in the oblivion of his sheets.

Nothing would tug at his lips more than a sign of cognizance from her. It's all he desired, virtually.
