 Jayden's POV

As soon as I was out of the house, I could see the sun setting on the horizon, the many shades of pink and purple combining with the dark blue of the evening sky. The sunset looked beautiful from here, more beautiful than I had ever seen from my lower-class neighborhood. I stopped running at the end of his driveway and thought about the events that had just taken place, putting my hands on my head. I could feel the beginning of a panic attack and started hyperventilating.

I heard the door open behind me, "Please go away. Just go away." I pleaded, I didn't want him to see me like this. Gavin ran out in front of me and put his hands on my shoulders, "Breathe deeply, in and out. Just breathe." He started taking deep breathes in and out, taking a hand off one of my shoulders and making hands gestures with each breath.

Soon I calmed down and we were both standing there in awkward silence. "What time is it?" He asked, with a worried look on his face. "Umm..." I pulled my phone out of my pocket and it read 8:25. "Shit. Sit Shit Shit." His eyes looked around scanning the neighborhood. Without explanation, he grabbed my hand and ran us inside, me trailing behind him doing my best to keep up.

He pushed me onto the couch and sat down next to me flipping on the tv. "Look casual." I tried my best to look casual, still confused as the sound of the door opening and I'm guessing who was his foster mom and two younger foster brothers came running through the door. "We're home!" she yelled, setting the groceries down on the table.

She was a slim woman with an average height, dark brown hair and kind hazel eyes. She looked about 30, wearing scrubs, I guess she was a nurse. On her scrubs, there was a nametag, Amanda Stalwick. She saw me and Gavin on the couch.

"Hey! I hope it's alright, my friend tripped on the sidewalk and got all bloodied up and the school nurse wasn't there and well then I thought that it would be alright so I helped him clean up and I didn't really think-" She smiled and cut him off.

"It's absolutely alright. There's no need to apologize. I'm just glad to see you are making friends at your new school. if he didn't already eat, seeing as it's pretty late for dinner, he can eat with us." Gavin looked at me, hopeful. "S-Sure. I guess, let me just text my mom real quick."

Sorry, really short chapter, I know. I've just kinda lost inspiration for this story so I will probably delete it and start writing another one that I actually have plans for, but so far, with this, I just don't see it going anywhere.
