"Okayy Kam I get it I'm getting up sheesh" Ilani finally gets up and does her morning routine before school even though she had little time to squeeze in to get ready she still managed to have everything together. "Lani the bus is outside!" Shouted Kam "I'm coming hold on Kam" Ilani runs down stairs so she can hurry and get on the bus not knowing she left her lunch on the counter along with her book bag. "Hey Lani" said Jasmine did you do Mrs. Nezz's homework over the weekend? "Yeah It's in my ba-" damn it I left my bag in my room ugh I hate to ask my mom to bring it to me. "Kam can you tell mom I left my bag and I need it please?" Said Mr. Barnes, "You eating breakfast?" said Jasmine "Damn it I forgot my breakfast and lunch on the damn kitchen counter" my mom is going to kill me I swear. "Dont worry Lani I can buy you breakfast" said Jasmine just come in the cafeteria "Okay fine" said Ilani. The girls start to head to the cafeteria to eat breakfast "Yoooo Ilani and Jas wait up!" Said a voice "Huh" said the girls as they turned to see who it was it was just Keith. "Oh hey Keith" said Ilani and Jasmine "Where yall headed to?" Said Keith "To the cafeteria to get breakfast" said Jasmine "Can I tag along with y'all?" Said Keith in a nervous way "Sure" said Ilani and Jasmine. The three friends walk into the cafeteria together noticing that no one was really there. "Damn where everybody" at said Keith it ain't never been this dead in the cafeteria "You right something gotta be going on" said Jasmine we need to see what's going on. "Yo Ilani why y'all in here we made it clear that the fight between Khaos and Supreme was going down at the courtyard today yall better hurry before we miss it" said Nick. They started to run behind Nick to see the fight "Wassup then pussy" said Khaos to Supreme the two boys started to rub up against each other "Stop!" Said Ilani all attention was given to Ilani "Can you two not do this?" Its not worth your basketball career Supreme and it's not worth your football career Khaos look at the color of your skin! They already label you wrong for being African American men in America so why prove them right? said Ilani in a pitched voice "She's right" said all the voices of the David High students Khaos and Supreme looked at one another. Supreme held his hand out waiting on Khaos to shake his hand... Khaos reached his hand out and shook Supreme's hand. "We good now g?" Said Supreme "Yeah we good g" said Khaos. The students clap all together and head to breakfast "Aye Lani wait up" said Khaos "Wassup" said Ilani "Why'd you do that back there what made you stop us?" Asked Khaos "Well I know the both of you are capable of doing way better" said Ilani yall shouldn't be ready to tear each others heads off over Desiree she's not worth it. Said Khaos "Yes butter fingers" answered Ilani I've saw you lose control of the ball before sir. In order for me to continue playing ball they trying to bench me until I pull up that grade. "Are you asking for a tutor Mr. Williams?" Asked Ilani "Well yeah" said Khaos I would really appreciate if you could. "Well just text me after school and we can arrange some things" said Ilani but make sure you text me first and not just pop up sir. "Thank you g for real" said Khaos I'll see you after school then. Both of them smiled after they went separate ways. Ilani opens the door to the cafeteria and looks to see where Jasmine and Keith were sitting. "Lani over here!" Said Keith. Ilani walks over to the booth where Jasmine and Keith were sitting. "What took you so long?" Asked Jasmine "Khaos wanted to speak with me about being his tutor" answered Ilani "Tutor?" Said Jasmine in a petty voice. "Yes a tutor" answered Ilani he needs help with his grade in Mrs. Nezz's class so I'm going to help him. The office announcement then interrupts their conversation "Attention I need Ilani Bell at the front office once again I need Ilani Bell" "Why would the front office need me?" Ilani said in her head well I'll catch up with you two once I get back. Ilank walks to the front office and notices her mother sitting in the chair with Ilani's lunchbox and back pack. "Hey mom" said Ilani thank you for bringing my stuff to me" "Ilani I swear you always leave something child" said Ilani's mom and you are more than welcome now get back to what you were doing. "Okay I'll see you later then mom" said Ilani as they hugged each other. Ilani puts her bag on her back and her lunchbox in her right hand. "I need to put these things in my locker" said Ilani. Ilani walks to C Hall to put her lunchbox and back pack in her locker. "Damn it what's the number to my combination?" Said Ilani Oh I remember it's 67 09 10. Ilani then opens her locker to put everything in and takes her books for class out. The first bell rings loudly for 1st period Ilani walks to Mr. Zayne's classroom and finds her seat next to Jasmine. "Hey girl I thought you were getting called to go home" said Jasmine "Girl no my mom just brung me the stuff that I had left" said Ilani but I figured she'd be mad but she wasn't. "I kind of figured she would to" said Jasmine. "Everybody open your books to page 137 and do the discussion questions they are due today you have until this class ends" said Mr. Zayne. Ahleah raises her hand "Yes Ahleah how may I help you?" Asked Mr. Zayne "How you expect us to finish 40 discussion questions before this class ends nie you know you doing too much" said Ahleah. The whole class burst out of laughter "Well Ahleah if you spent as much time as you do chasing behind boys and invest that time into your work you could have more than 40 questions done don't ya think?" Asked Mr. Zayne. "Ouuuu" says the whole class" "Now flip your page to 137 and get to work" says Mr. Zayne and no talking. "Aye Lani" whispers Derrick "Yes?" Lani whispers back "You got the answer to number 7 yet?" Asked Derrick "Yeah it's "World War 2" whispers Ilani. "No talking!" Mr. Zayne says loudly. The bell to dismiss first period rings "Turn your papers into the 1st period baskets" said Mr. Zayne. All the students turn their papers in and head to the hallway. The students go all through out the day until the end of school hours. The dismissal bell rings loudly the office announcement comes on "Hello Panthers have a safe afternoon and make sure if you have homework or assignments due to turn them in because grades will be finalized this Friday for Progress reports and remember think and fight like a mighty panther" the announcement then cuts off "Yo Lani" says Khaos you still got me after school? "I told you to not forget to text me butter finger" so if you don't forget then yeah answers Ilani. "I got your butter fingers short stuff" says Khaos as they walk away from each other. "Lani you ready for this homecoming game?" Says Jasmine "Well of course I am I'm ready every year chile" answers Ilani but I need to find the perfect dress again for the homecoming dance. "Same girl we should dress shop together" says Jasmine. "Yeah we shoul-" Derrick interrupts their conversation he then snatches Ilani away from Jasmine "Didn't I tell you not to speak with other niggas?" Says Derrick in an angry voice "It was nothing serious Derrick" answers Ilani nervously "I dont fucking care don't ever disrespect me do you fucking understand me?" Says Derrick very aggressively "Yes" answers Ilani with tears about to come down her eyes. Derrick then walks off angry and Jasmine runs over to Ilani and hugs her as Ilani burst into tears. The office announcement says "All students who ride the first bus it is now out front please go to your bus it will leave in a few minutes" Ilani and Jasmine walk to the bus together and finds them a seat. "What the fuck is wrong with my sister?!" Says Kameron "It was Derrick" answers Jasmine quietly he yanked her away from me while we were talking and went off on her for speaking to Khaos. "I swear you deserve better why the fuck do you continue to stay with that piece of shit?" Says Kameron in anger "Kam I'm okay" answers Ilani I just should've never spoke to Khaos. "You can talk to who the fuck you want to Ilani Bell!" Says Kameron I'm sick and tired of that bastard doing you like this Ilani.
"Bells this is your stop" yells Mr. Davis. "Text me if you need me Lani" says Jas "I will" answers Ilani. Ilani and Kameron exits the bus and enters their home. "Lani can I use your laptop?" Asked Kameron"Yeah" says Ilani let me go get it off my bed. Ilana goes upstairs to get her laptop "Where is my laptop?" Ilnai questions herself "Oh damn it's at Derricks house" says Ilani I'll just go get it I guess. Ilani goes to Kameron's room " I left my laptop at Derricks house I'll go pick it up" "Not by yourself" says Kameron I'll just drive you over there. Kameron grabs her keys and takes Ilani to Derricks house. "You need me to go in with you Lani" says Kameron "I'll call you if I need you Kam" answers Ilani. Ilani walks up the steps and knocks on the door. "Who is it" says a voice "Its Ilani" says Ilani. Someone opens the door. "Oh hey Lani!" Says Jay "Hey Jay Is Derrick here? Asks Ilani "Yeah he's in his room" says Jay. Ilani walks down the hall to Derricks room "He Baby I lef-'" says Ilani as she see's Nicole and Derrick having sex. Ilani is in shock as tears roll down her face slowly. "Baby I can explain!" says Derrick I didn't know you were coming over "I didn't know y'all were still together Lani he told me y'all had broke up I'm so sorry" says Nicole I truly am Sorry. Ilani walks over to Derricks computer desk and grabs her laptop and charger. "Derrick Its Over" says Ilani as she walks out of Derricks house and gets into the car. "What's wrong Lani?" Asked Kam "I don't want to talk about it Kam" answers Ilani I just want to go home. Kameron cranks up her car and drives back home. Ilani phone starts to ring "Hello" says Ilani "So you still gone help me with this work Ilani?" Asked Khaos "Oh yeah umm I'll be there in a few send me your address". Ilani hangs up the phone "Where you gotta go now Lani?" asked Kameron because I'll take you. "I'll take my car Kam I'll be fine here's my laptop and charger I'll be back home later" answers Ilani. Ilani gets into her car and drives over to Khaos house. Ilani then begins to knock on the door but no one answers so she knocks again. "Who is it" Says a voice "Ilani Bell" answers Ilani. Someone then opens the door "Who are you beautiful girl?" Says this lady "Hi ma'am I'm a friend of Khaos I'm here to help him with his work" answers Ilani "Khaos someone is here for you" shouts the lady. "I like you alot better than that other flute she'd just walk into my home with no respect" says the lady. Ilani continues to talk to the lady and she glances and sees Khaos walking down the stairs with no shirt, gray sweats, & a 24k gold chain around his neck with a number 1 charm attached to the chain.. "Mama what ya chattin about?" Asked Khaos I hope it wasn't about me. "Oh no one was speaking of you Kacey" says his mother. "Follow me to my spot Lani" says Khaos "Nice meeting you ma'am says Ilani. "You can call me Mrs. Karrie, Mrs. William's or even mama if your with my son" laughs Karrie. Khaos and Ilani begin to laugh at Mrs. Karrie "Good joke" says Khaos now let's go short stuff. Khaos takes Ilani to his room. "Wow well organized room sir." Says Ilani "Why you say it like that shawty?" Asked Khaos "Because I thought it would be messy and smell like leftover food" says Ilani. They both began to laugh at the joke and they sit on Khaos's bed. "So what are we working with sir?" Says Ilani "Well you know it's just I don't fully understand her work" answered Khaos it's like it makes me think too much it's just confusing ya know. "Yeah I understand" says Ilani I used to be the same way with her wor-" Ilani phone rings and interrupts their conversation "Let me take this call" says Ilani. She steps outside of them room and closes the door meanwhile Khaos steps slowly to the door to listen. "Hello" says Ilani "Baby can we talk about this please" says Derrick "Derrick we're done it's over what don't you understand you should've thought about us when you were having sex with her" whispers Ilani. Ilani hangs the phone up and blocks Derricks number. Khaos slowly gets back on the bed acting as if he wasn't listening and Ilani opens the door and sits back on the bed. "You know you arent a very good creeper Khaos" says Ilani as she laughs "What are you talking about?" says Khaos "I heard you get up and lean on the door to listen knucklehead" says Ilani "See what had happened wa-" says Khaos "Its okay" says Ilani interrupting Khaos's sentence. Five hours go by as Khaos and Ilani are still studying "It's getting late I should head back home" says Ilani "Thank you for helping me Lani seriously" says Khaos I should pass her test tomorrow thanks to you. "No problem butter fingers" says Ilani I'll see you tomorrow. Khaos walks Ilani to her car "Be safe Lani" says Khaos as the both of them stare into each other's eyes. "I will" answers Ilani in a shy tone you be safe to butter fingers. Khaos and Lani begin to make deep eye contact as he's leaned into her car window... "I should get go- going" says Illani " See you later Lani " responded Khaos as Lani drove off.
