No Way Out

"No!", I screamed at the top of my lungs. " Let me go!", I yelled into the night sky. I watched as my house receded from view as the dark figures on either side dragged me by my arms through the damp grass of my front yard. My heals dug deep into the ground as to form any resistance they could but, it was fruitless.

   Suddenly, the most gut-wrenching thing happened, causing my body to fall limp and my heart to freeze to ice and shatter into a million tiny pieces. My mother and father appeared in the doorway, smiling and waving as their only daughter was dragged away. That was the last thing I saw before I was shoved into the back of a white van and the doors were slammed shut; submerging me in utter darkness.
   I let out out one more defeated shriek and began to shake uncontrollably.
"Wake up sweetie. Wake up.", I slowly opened my eyes to see my mother standing over me, gently shaking my shoulders. "Are you okay sweetheart?" My heavy breathing slowly calmed as I glanced around at the familiarity of my bedroom. I blankly registered that the comforter and sheets I was lying under were both damp with sweat and my face streaked with tears. "Wha-what happened?", I asked her. She responded with a tender expression on her face. " I heard screams coming from your room and rushed to see what was going on." She repeated the question. "Are you okay honey?" "So... it was... just... a dream?" I said slowly in a quivering voice. Suddenly, her voice became deeper and her face began to warp into an unfathomable and horrifying shape. "Actually, no. Sweet dreams, sweetheart", was the last thing I heard as a pillow was placed roughly against my face, cutting off my air supply. Sweet dreams sweetheart... as the world faded to black...
