Meet the new Secretary

Chapter 11

'What?!'  I asked incredulously. I felt Chase kicked my foot under the table 

'Is there a problem Clara dear?' Chase's mom asked me. We were at the dining table,eating with the rest of Chase's family members. 

"There is no problem, right Clara? " Chase said. He's glaring at me across the table. 

"N-no, it's just that..I..I didn't bring any clothes with me. Yeah, that's right!"

"Don't worry, I can lend you some of my clothes tonight and then we'll just go shopping tomorrow for new clothes" Nicole said.

"Don't you wanna stay for the night Clara? " Chase's mom asked me, she had a sad look and it made me feel guilty.

Oh well , I'll drop every ounce of common sense I have right now and I'll just go with the flow. I put on the my brightest smile before I answered.

"I would love to spend the night here!" 

Lily clapped her hands enthusiastically in response. I also saw Carol with a big smile on her face. Their warm response to me made me feel so guilty in doing this Charade. It feels as if I'm lying to my own mom. 

After dinner, Nicole asked me to come to her room to try on some clothes.

"This are all lingerie.." I looked at all the clothes laid out on the bed.

"I love wearing lingerie when I go to sleep, it makes me feel sexy." Nicole even winked at me.

"I can't wear that!"

"Why not? Chase would love it."

"That's the point." I suddenly blurted out

"What?"

"Nothing, do you have other clothes? Something that...don't show much skin?"

Nicole sighed before giving in. She went to her drawer to look for other clothes to lend me.

"You are such a spoilsport."

I sat on her bed praying that she can find a decent enough night dress for me. I don't want Chase thinking that I'm seducing him. The memory of the kiss Chase gave me suddenly came to my mind. I don't know why, but I actually liked it even though he laughed at me after.

"Here you go." She handed me a lavender silk spaghetti strap top and really short shorts. 

I gave her an uneasy look. She just shrugged.

"Either this or you wear one of the lingerie."

"I'll just take this." I took the clothes from her and was about to head for the door when I heard Nicole speak.

"Are you sure you don't want any of these?"

"No. Don't get me wrong, they all look beautiful but I'd rather that Chase don't get any wrong idea."

"I have just one question, I want you to tell me the truth."

Ok, now I'm nervous, I always knew that we can't fool everybody but I didn't anticipate that someone would figure out the charade this early!

"Yea?"

"You and Chase haven't slept yet?"

What the F?! That's what she wants to know?! 

"Ah..to tell you the truth, I'm still a virgin."

Nicole looked at me wide eyed and I watched as her jaw literally dropped. If I'm not so nervous right now, I would've laughed out loud. She looks hilarious!
