~Forever~
When he found her again, hundred of years had passed on Earth, lives outlived and memories fading into the half-forgotten past. Wrongs done, promises and threats uttered in the heat of grief and passion, wiped clean until all that was left was an empty slate. A new beginning. A new life.
For her, it was a new chance.
Earth had changed over the centuries; heroes, cities, rulers, and wars coming and going in a blur of colors, decisions, spilled blood, heartbreak, desire, and love. But despite the advancements of the human race, some things would always be the same. The world had changed, but she had not.
"Do I know you?" He asked, sidling up beside her as she sat alone in The Devil's Playground, an old dive on Cero Street. In the distance the faint purr of a starship leaving its dock replaced the once-familiar roar of an airplane's engine overhead, but unlike so many things in this life, which had changed so very much since she'd last set foot on earth, he was exactly the same as she remembered. Strong, chiseled, gorgeous, with just the right amount of danger glinting in his green eyes. The world had changed, but he had not.
Lifting her lip slightly and allowing her mouth to curve into a deadly smile, she looked up at him with eyes as perfectly green as his own. "Do you want to?" She purred, and was rewarded with a flash of uncontrollable desire in his otherwise steady gaze.
He leaned in closer, and she felt a thrill of adrenaline at his sudden proximity. Warm lips brushed her cheek, breath tickling her neck and stirring the fires of her dark heart. "Hell yes," he growled, and a shudder of excited pleasure rushed through her body at the sound.
It didn't take them long to quit the dive and make it out to his car, but that was as far as they got. Lips locked, fingers gripping sweat-shiny skin, clothes discarded in a heap on the front seat. Moans, growls, gasps, half-finished declarations of pleasure and passion mixed with their breath as they moved together, bodies perfectly in tune, tangling and twisting and thrusting. The world had changed, but this had not.
Afterward he asked her where he could drop her off, but she didn't give him her address. It wasn't hers anyway; it belonged to a former sugar-daddy who'd let her stay on in the crappy, dingy little apartment even though she'd long-since stopped providing adequate compensation for his generosity. The truth, she knew, was that he couldn't bear to see her go. So was her power over mortal men.
"Take me to the Terminal," she replied, referring to the fancy new ocean-side spaceport and hotel that had just finished construction the year before last. She didn't provide any further explanation, and he didn't ask for one.
When they arrived, the sun's dying light was smeared across the horizon like blood on black silk, the stars glittering dully overhead. The dawn of night brought with it a shimmer of possibility, a promise of redemption and ever-elusive fulfillment.
She stepped out of his car as soon as he pulled up alongside the cliff. The elegant, towering form of the Terminal rose from the carefully landscaped shore, perched precariously on the edge of the drop-off facing the churning ocean. Ever since she'd first heard that a new spaceport was undergoing construction in this part of the city, she'd wanted to explore it for herself, but had never taken the time or money to drive the fifty miles from her apartment to the ocean shore until now. And now that she was finally there, she found that her thoughts were less on the architectural masterpiece that was the enormous entertainment facility, and more on the man in the car behind her.
