I pulled out one of my earpieces as I looked up at our old house. When my dad had said we were moving back to Japan I freaked out. Actually, that's an understatement, I almost had a breakdown out of happiness.
I push open the old spruce wood doors and was hit with the familiar smell of old books. Now, you may be wondering why it smells like books. Well, my mum is a writer and so we have a huge library in the house, thus the comforting smell of old books.
I pulled my f/c bag along the wooden floor, making my way to the carpeted stairs. The house was quite spooky. We hadn't planned on moving so it was left exactly the way we had left it when we went on the book tour. The wheels on my bag spun smoothly as I ascended the stairs.
I hadn't realized my excitement until this point, seeing all the family photos on the walls, I ran down the hall. My room was the last one on the left, my bathroom being on the right. I threw the doors open and almost burst into tears. It was just how I left it.
A book rested atop my old desk, blowing away some dust I read the familiar cover: "The study of Psychic abilities." I was trying to find out why Saiki and my powers didn't work on each other. It wasn't hard to figure that he was psychic, he never opened his mouth to talk.
On the left side of the desk was a framed photo of me and Saiki on a swing set that my father had insisted he took at the time. Next to that was a mason jar containing now dead sunflowers. This made me frown.
I walked over to my dark wood bed and threw my bag on top of it, zipping it open. Inside I had my most precious belongings, my laptop, the box of memories, a Donald Duck teddy bear and all my chargers. I lifted the Donald Duck and examined him, placing him on my bed when I determined he was okay. I opened the box next, picking out all the letters I had written in the past two years.
This was it. I would go and see him. Even if he hates me now.

Teruhashi had insisted on spending the day at my house. We were now sitting on the couch watching a movie she insisted on watching. How I wish she would leave. The only thing I was grateful for was the fact that she had brought a box of cookies. My sweet tooth just couldn't resist. I would've declined her staying over had she not brought cookies.
"So, Saiki, did you like my gift I got you?" She broke the silence and turned to me, interrupting not only my thoughts, but the horrible movie we were unfortunately watching. And just for the record, no, I did not like the gift.
'It was okay. Although I would've preferred a coffee jelly.' I sent her a telepathic message, not bothering to look away from the TV. She was taken aback to say the least.
'W-what? How could he not love my gift? It was almost as perfect as I am! I really thought he'd like a framed photo of us together. Any guy who has EYES would want that!' She thought to herself, not knowing I could hear her.
Thankfully, the doorbell ringing distracted her. I was about to get up to see whoever was there, since you know, this is my house, but Teruhashi threw her hands up to stop me before again insisting she should get it.
Deep down I knew I didn't want to have more visitors so having her to scare them off was okay, I guess. I still despise her, don't get me wrong, but if it were to be Nendo there then she can surely get rid of him.
I thought of Nendo because I can't sense anyone there, so either Nendo's brainless self is awaiting my arrival at the door, or there was a child pranking us by ringing the bell and leaving.
'What would a girl be doing here?' Teruhashi thought as she opened the door and greeted someone.
If Teruhashi didn't recognize them from school maybe it was someone I should be greeting instead, seeing as it could be a family friend. I got up and started walking to the door, but I found myself frozen just inside the family room as I heard a voice.
"Oh- um, I'm sorry to bother you but- I was looking for the Saiki residence? A few years ago they lived here, and I had a friend named Kusuo. Is he by any chance here?"
Teruhashi's mind began racing, 'who the hell is this? Could she be Saiki's old girlfriend? Oh no if she's here she's going to steal his oh wow from me! I can't have that! I'll just tell her he doesn't live here anymore and then me and Saiki can-'
I walked to the door and almost threw Teruhashi out of the way. I stopped in the doorway and looked down at the girl I had wanted to see for years. She looked up at me, startled but joyful. I couldn't help but stare at her, frozen.
"Hi." She squeaked at me.
I had never imagined she'd be back. I wrapped my arms around her and rested my head on top of hers, trying my best to ignore Teruhashi's thoughts as I hugged her.
When we pulled apart, I gently took her hand, leading her to the family room. I didn't close the front door as I thought Teruhashi would get the message that she needs to leave. Thankfully she did.
Once we were sitting down, I found myself looking over her, every square inch, making sure she was okay and the same as when she left. She smiled at me.
'Why haven't you said anything?' She sent me a telepathic message. A chill ran down my spine as her words seemed to glide through my mind. Thank god she can't read my thoughts.
