"ok and we're gonna go 1234, 5678, foward back 34-" i was teaching dev his first dance of the series when my phone started ringing

"hold on sorry, i gotta take this, could you go over the steps?" i asked and left the room to answer my call

"little one, are you okay?" i asked softly

"sorry di, did i interrupt your rehersals? oh god, i did didn't i...i'm sorry forget it" he rambled

"slow down joe, it's totally 100% ok, what's wrong?"

"i'm just uh feeling quite nervous, i'm just a random person who makes videos of me doing stupid things, what am i doing?"

"hey calm down honey, they wouldn't have picked you if they didn't think you could do it, remember what i always say? you can do anything as long as you put your mind to it, and you have, you've worked so hard for this. we did your exercises and went over your lines last night and this morning. i'm so sorry that i can't be there tonight but you're gonna smash this joe."

"thank you dianne, i-i just really needed to hear that, i love you so much"

"i love you too, i'll always be here for you joseph and when you get home, i'll be waiting for you, probably crying about how proud i am of you...and be prepared to be smothered in kisses!" i laughed, already feeling the tears prickle in my eyes about how amazing my boy is

"awww baby, i'll see you at home" he said

"alright, you'll be amazing" i replied, reassuring him one last time before his first night.
