Before I could even say anything she was in front of me, her hand covering my mouth. She was way taller than me, which in that moment made me more envious than it did scared. I needed to get my priorities straight. She smiled down at, cocking her head to the side. I tried to take a step back, but I was trapped between the door and her.
"Pity. You seem like a nice girl." She sighed, as if killing me was really just a small inconvenience for her. She twirled a piece of my hair around her finger. My blonde hair stood out against her pale skin. I tried to jerk my head back, but just ended up banging my head against the hardwood of the door.
So much for that.
She laughed, her black eyes glittering.
Then a knock sounded at my door.
"Your majesty? Is everything alright in there?"
Kevin! My hero!
I started to struggle harder against her, but she bared her teeth at me. I froze instantly.
"Yeah, I'm alright Kevin!" The demon girl replied, in MY voice. My eyes widened.
That's cheating.
Well, two can play at this game.
While she was semi-distracted, I bit down hard on her hand. She hissed and jerked back. I fumbled for the door handle, but she was on me in an instance. She threw me back into my room, and I crashed onto the floor. She had me on my back and pinned down with a dagger at my throat before I could even process what had happened.
"If I weren't about to slit your throat, this would be some damn good foreplay." She said, sighing. I felt the blade sink deeper against my skin.
"Wai-wait. Who sent you?" I whispered, trying in a vain attempt to get her talking.
"Really, Princess? As if the whole kingdom isn't at war with your father's court? Take your pick."
I groaned and let my head drop back. This stupid war.
"Well, that's not usually the response I get when I tell someone that a whole nation wants to kill them. While I have a dagger to their throat. Huh, this is new." She mused, smiling.
"Yeah, well, you'd feel the same if the whole nation is exactly the reason you can't even go outside and now a demon girl wants to kill you."
"Wait back up, angel cakes, you can't even go outside?"
"Nope. I might get 'kidnapped'. Which...I guess my father had a right to be worried, especially since his enemies summoned a whole ass demon."
She said nothing, her dagger still at my throat. She sighed then slowly let her hand drop.
"Well, I can't kill you yet." I stared at her blankly.
"Usually this is the part where you are thanking me."
"But...why?"
"I mean, I still can Princess." Her dagger right back at my throat.
"NO! I mean, I'm not not grateful for it, I just...don't get it."
"I can't possibly kill someone who hasn't yet lived." She said, finally sheathing her dagger.
I started to protest but she cut me off.
"Have you seen the ocean? Gotten drunk? Been to the capital library? Seen the baseless mountains? Hell, have you even kissed anyone before?"
I blushed, and avoided looking at her.
"Mhm, that's what I thought. I have to get you out of this castle." She pursed her lips, looking around my room as if it held the answer to all of her questions.
Suddenly, there was a knock at my door.
"Nora, it's your father. I'm coming in."
Oh god, not now, not with some crazy demon girl STILL straddling me.
I watched in horror as my door swung up.
