I woke up to the sound of tapping and thudding along the windows of my car. I looked around spotting the source of the annoying sound that woke me from my slumber.

The rotter lugged around and spotted me move instantly coming to the side of the car where I am. I rolled my eyes and sighed. I gripped my bat and moved over to the passenger side quickly getting out. Its pace quickened as it tried to grab at me.

As I reared back to hit it something I never though would happen and the bat actually cracked in half as it hit the rotters skull. A metal bat, took too much of a beating and actually broke on me.

I stared in disbelief for a split second before letting out a groan.
"Shit" I spit out. As it had me trapped against the car I used all of my strength and pushed it off of me. I quickly darted towards the forest in hopes of losing it.

The deeper I got into the forest the thicker it seemed to become. I'd be lucky to find my way out after this. It would possibly take days. The rotter stayed on my trail, I wished she would trip and fall. Hell anything to let me get away.

As I ran I approached a small clearing that looked as if maybe someone had taken refuge there. I ran harder. As I entered I could see small buildings made from lumber and some tents surround as well.

There was one structure that caught me off guard though. It was ten times bigger than any of the others. It had a sleek look to it as if someone really took their time to build it.

Of course, I trip over a trap that was hidden on the ground and soon the rotter was ontop of me. Its teeth gnashed and blood dripped from its body onto mine. I held it at a distance as I slowly crept into a panic.

I looked at my surrounds grabbing a decent sized rock I shoved it onto the ground, straddling it. I began to bash its head until it stopped moving.

By this time a crowd had formed and watched me. They said nothing. I was breathing heavily and my ankle was screaming out to me in pain. The trap was enclosed around it, blood oozing from it slowly.

I looked up at the people as they judged me. I could see in the back they had started to part and a large muscled man came forward.

"Shes mine" he claimed. His eyes were on me as if he wanted to ravish me. His body language clearly displayed leadership.

He came forward slowly , arms raised as if to tell me he wont harm me. If only he knew I wasnt afraid of him. I'm not afraid of anyone. As for the "shes mine" comment , I'm no ones. Haven't been for a really long time.

The trap was released from my ankle, relieving the pressure. Blood trickled down my foot leaving streaks of red. He picked me up as the other still stared at me.

" you arent bringing her in!?" A woman interjected. He turned slowly and his eyes darkened.

" you question my judgement?" His voice was low. Her posture was one of confidence.

  "I do" she tests him.

" then you are a fool" he sneers.

" no! You are the fool. Bringing a helpless dainty girl here! She doesn't belong!" She stomps her foot childishly. He rolls his eyes.

" you will stop this instance. I will not tolerate your childish behavior. Once more and you will be put on chore duty" he growls.

He continues to walk leaving her behind and she is seething. I'm beginning to question what kind of group there was here.

Entering the mans home he laid me on the bed. This group seemed to be all skilled in some sort of trade. The buildings were structurally sound. He had my ankle is his hand , making me wince. He worked methodically wrapping it and making sure it wouldnt get infected.

" how long until I can go?" I asked as I watched him. I could see him start to smirk.

" who says you'll wanna leave?" He looks up at me through his eyelashes. I bit my lip and shake my head at him.

" I'm more of the loner type" I shrug.

" why dont you stay a couple days , see how you like it? I have a feeling we could be a real asset to each other" he tries to sway me. I think about it for a second.

It didnt sound like a bad idea. Shelter and others to watch my back. For once maybe I could get some deep sleep.

" fine. A couple days and that's it though." I tell him firmly.

" your name?" He asks expectantly.

" you can call me scar" I put my hand out. He looks at it and smirks.

" xavier" he takes my hand and brings it to his lips , kissing it softly. I draw my hand back and clear my throat.

" anyways, where will I be sleeping?"

" oh did I not tell you? Welcome to your new humble abode"  he grins and spreads his arms out letting me take his words in.
