Everyone in the world, lived in black and white, a world without colour. Of course people always moped around, hoping they could be the fortunate ones that can see colour, but majority weren't granted with that wonderful sense.
You have been use to the black and white, and never expected anything more. You had the same routine as everyone else, wore simple outfits to make sure you didn't look a mess, and always had a bare face to prevent looking foolish...not that anyone would notice anyways.
You grabbed your bag and ran down the stairs, running late for school. You pick up a piece of toast and kiss your mum on cheek as you ran out the door. Just as you get outside, you see the bus drive straight pass your house, and the only thing left to do was walk.
You began to walk the 35 minute journey, your head angle towards the ground, and your headphones in blasting Kevin Abstract.
The soft beat and smooth lyrics put you into your own world, imagining the colours that this man is seeing, putting you in a trance and peaceful state of mind. As you slightly bop your head up and down through the crowded sidewalks, old men would cat-call and ask you for sex. Of course you paid no mind, the last thing you need in your life is negativity and immaturity.
Ever so often, more men would creepily try to hit on you, while one man started to follow you and you start to take notice. Quickly getting out of the trance, you lower the music and proceed to walk faster so that he could hopefully leave you alone. The old men continued to spit out disgusting slurs and you try your best to ignore but how much is too much?
Tears began brimming in your eyes as you started to walk even faster to your school. The creep eventually picked up his speed, and soon after you were sprinting. Tears begin to fall as the creep doesn't stop, only goes faster.
Business people, maids, constructor workers, mothers, and simple-minded civilians didn't pay attention or care for you as tears were falling, as a man would not leave you alone. Maybe it wasn't because they didn't care, but maybe they didn't know how to care. They were all in a deep stare and emotionless bodies, their minds acting like robots and it seems as if they're not in control of their own bodies.
You could only run for so much longer and your legs became weak. You weren't even near your school and you attempt to run into the diner on the corner.
Trying to run in, you bumped into a man and fall straight on the ground.
"Are you okay?" He asked
Your vision was blurry and you couldn't respond to the young man. You attempt to get up but your body was too weak, falling back onto the ground.
"Hey hey hey I got you darling, you rest here and I'll bring you some water"
From what you've last seen, the creepy man was nowhere in sight, but you were too afraid to open your eyes. The bell on top of the door rang repeatedly and you feel a safe presence next to you.
"I got you some water, please drink this. You look like you're about to faint."
You eyes are tightly shut as you take the water from the man.
"Thank you I-I really appreciate it. You're the first one to help me"
"No worries, my name is Tom"
You smile and begin to open your eyes, your body in complete shock. Your eyes begin to water again as you stare at the man. Your hand trembling with fear and excitement as you slowly touch his face. He takes your hand and places it on his cheek, his grin beginning to widen. You gasp as you look behind him, seeing the flashing 'Welcome' lights at the diner,
All in different colours.
You've got the ability to see colour.
He gets up and you quickly turn around and he's still smiling. You take his hands and you begin to cry tears of joy.
"I-I finally get to see c-colour!" You exclaim, "T-This is so beautiful"
"Aren't the colours of the world absolutely mesmerizing?"
"Yes...This is the best thing I've ever seen in my entire life"
"Well now, you're actually seeing the world, as you want to see it."
"Huh?" You said dumbfounded
"Have you never heard of the saying 'Seeing the world in black and white'? in means that you think of things in a way that involves a simple choice between two opposite things, such as good and bad or right and wrong. You've never had the opportunity to see the good in things in life, the right things in life, which made you standoffish and close-minded. That's how most people are in the world today live, which is never a good thing darling. Even when they're bad situations, you can look at the good of it, or how someone can learn from it. You've never truly been happy y/n and it's hard to see that to someone so young and so beautiful." He smiles
"So, you're the light in my life?" You question, "You're the good that I see?"
"I guess I am" He chuckles, "I would love to be the good that you see."
