Episode 12: May I Know Your Past?

[Chaeyoung's House]

Chanyeol arrives and Chaeyoung's granny opens the door for him to enter their house. Without any doubt, she goes upstairs to knock her granddaughter's bedroom since Chanyeol needs her help to talk to Chaeyoung.

*Knock Knock*

"Chaeng dear! Your friend visits you."

"Who is it?" She doesn't even open the door to talk

"Young man Chanyeol who stayed at our home last time." Without any notices, Chanyeol is already there with granny too he senses that Chaeyoung doesn't want to see him

"Tell him that I don't want to see him right now." Chaeyoung shouts from inside and Chanyeol hears that too

"What happened exactly, young man?" Granny asks Chanyeol. He doesn't respond yet but knocks Chaeyoung's door

"Chaeng! We need to talk. Don't avoid me like that. You cannot avoid forever. She's coming for you." She doesn't response anything while granny starts to doubt of what happened "Chaeng, your sister really misses you. She cried talking about you a lot just now. Can you at least have a normal talk with her?"

Finally, Chaeyoung opens her door but with her straight face...

"Go away and stop talking about it now, or else I won't talk to you anymore later." As she finished her words, she slums the door back without letting him say anything. He sighs as he hasn't know anything deeper. Chanyeol and granny go downstairs together and sit on the sofa in front of the television.

"Can you tell me now of what happened?" Granny asks Chanyeol with her serious expression

"Her younger sister went to meet her at Minseok Hyung's shop today and she ignored her sister with her harsh words as her sister misses her so bad." Chanyeol pouts a little as he recalls what happened at café

"Her sister? That Park Sooyoung or called Joy?" Granny asks him with her wide eyes

"Yes. You know her too, right?" Chanyeol asks out of curiosity since he thinks that they are siblings and she is their granny

"Chaeyoung told me some about her too." She sighs and looks on the ground to avoid eye contact with him

"Granny! May I know what happened to Chaeng? Why does she suddenly become so cold with her own sister?"

"Chaeyoung is my adopted granddaughter 10 years ago." She sighs deeper while Chanyeol widens his eyes "I don't know if I do it right but I want to tell you about her past right now."

[Flashback to 11 Years ago]

"Your dad and I already planned to take Joy to The U.S. for Joy's treatment next month. I'm not sure how long it takes. You will be here with our maids instead because I don't think it will be good for Joy if she keeps gluing to you. Behave while we go, don't trouble them. Got it?" Then, Mrs. Park walked out of the room after tutoring 9-year-old Chaeyoung that she brought her sick sister out of home again.

That night, Chaeyoung sneaked into Sooyoung's room to talk to her since her little sister had to leave here very soon. Sooyoung was happy to see her Unnie...

"Unnie! Are you okay? Mom... did mom scolded you? I'm sorry, Unnie!" Sooyoung sat up, looking sad. Chaeyoung grinned and shook his head

"Don't worry! Mom just told me that we shouldn't play outside again next time. By the way... you, mom and dad will go. I will stay here." Sooyoung tilted his head and confused about what Chaeyoung just said

"Go where? Why you stay? Can't you come along? Are we gonna go for a vacation? I don't want to go if you don't come along." Sooyoung gave a little pout and grabbed her elder sister's hands

"I'm sorry. I'm so useless. I can't even take care of you well." They both blasted into tears and hugged each other all night long until they fell asleep.
