This is my first book. So I hope you like it. I will be posting each chapter as I come out with them. To the story.

Nathaniel wiped the sweat off his brow as he struck the ground with his hoe. Sparks suddenly flared up as he hit a rock. He winced as a splinter embedded itself in his hand. He was exhausted. The ground was tough and full of rocks, and he had been working for hours under the hot sun. He looked up at the sun. "Finally," he sighed in relief. He put the hoe down and walked to the house. He stopped on the porch and looked at the setting sun.
He would often work from dawn to dusk when he didn't have school. He only had school two days of the week, but he wished he had it all the time. He loved school. He liked learning and hanging with friends. But mostly, he liked seeing Chyanne. He secretly had a crush on her, but, even though he had known her since he was six years old, he hadn't worked up the courage to tell her. But now, at fourteen, he had finally formulated a plan.

He sat in his room, racking his brain. There were tons of crumpled papers in the trash can. "No, no," he said with a frustrated tone, "that won't do". He crumpled another paper. He suddenly got an idea. He started scribbling words down. They read:

There was a boy,
Both honest and fair.

Of course, he was describing himself.

Then came a lady,
With dark brown...

"Boom!" he was startled by a crack of thunder. He looked outside as the rain began to pour. That's strange, he thought. There weren't any clouds before. He walked up to the window. Something about the rain filled him with dread. "This is some unearthly rain," he said aloud.
Suddenly, a bright light filled the room. Nathaniel covered his eyes. When the light faded, he looked and blinked. "You've got to be kidding me," he said in disbelief. In the middle of the room, three people stood in robes of different colors.
"We need your help," the tallest one said.
Nathaniel looked at him in astonishment. He didn't scream. He didn't shout. He just fainted
