Mum, Dad, I think I might be gay.

That would be my answer to the question, which sentence I regret saying the most. I said it last Tuesday and this Monday I'm on a bus to some Christian holiday camp. My parents thought it would help but I'm not so sure about that. Maybe it was the fact that I told them on my 18th birthday. Maybe that was a bad idea. Maybe they're right. Maybe I was indeed sick.

Looking out the window I saw houses go by, forests, fields and so many happy people walking on the streets. Annoyed I looked up at the display in the front of the bus. One hour left until we reached the coast. That's where we're headed. I actually don't know more than that because my dad only told me yesterday evening but at least he was still talking to me, unlike my mum. The bus was full of other kids happily talking about how excited they were. My only wish right now was that they would just shut up. I pushed my headphones a bit further into my ears and turned the volume of my music up.

Some time later someone elbowed me in the side. As I looked up to the person sitting next to me, the girl only pointed to the front. One of the camp leaders was looking at me with a gesture as if he was taking something out of his ears. I needed a moment to realise that he meant my headphones. After I took them out the man started talking.

"Thank you. Now again, I'm Mr. Jones and this is Ms. Allen", he pointed to the woman standing next to him and continued, "we're your camp counsellors for the following two weeks. With us are also three more cabin leaders. You will be divided into three groups with which you will be living in a cabin with one of the leaders. They're already there so you will meet them in", he looked at his watch, "about five minutes. Thanks for giving me your attention and I hope we will all have a good time. Please gather all your belongings now and get ready to leave the bus."

It was late afternoon by now and everyone got excited once more. Well, everyone except me.

Once the bus came to a stop all the other kids directly got up and started getting off the bus. Only after the majority of them were outside I started following them. Someone already took out our luggage and arranged it in front of the bus. I was still looking for my bag when Ms. Allen started to read out the names for our groups. There were two groups of boys and only one of girls. I heard my name in group number two.

We were lead to a cabin which had a direct view towards the ocean.

Okay Jacob, let's just get this over with. It can't be so bad, right?
