Shade's Betrayal Part 1

Archlich paced back and forth in front of the council meeting hall. His brown scales rubbing against his armor. The rings and ornate chains on his tail hitting the wall as he paced while his blade-like tail tip scraped along the stone walls and floor. While the auburn scaled, blue marked Kanriss sat near the entry, occasionally glancing back at Archlich.

"she'll be fine Arc, it's nothing to worry about," she said coldly. Archlich stopped and looked at his partner. He knew she was right, she always was in his eyes. He took a deep breath and soon stood on the left side of the door.

"you're right Kanriss...I'm just being a fool" He quipped before his dark green eyes darted to the door and he turned his head. Kanriss got up and stretched before walking over to her partner.

"I always am" she growled smugly before the door opened to reveal a Riki with dark purple fur.

"Thank you again Kias, I know the future will be bright with you standing," the Riki said before looking at the guards.

"So you two are my escort ?" she asked and Kanriss simply nodded much to the riki's annoyance.

"Of course they send the weakest to escort me back to my den" the Riki muttered before walking down the hall. Both guards stunned, how could someone say such a thing about them. Kanriss brushed it off and followed the council member while it took a moment for Archlich to snap out of his daze. The two females had waited for him in a huff before taking off to the den, none saying a word the entire flight. Once they had landed the Riki only gave them a cold stare before they left to their dens for the night.

"How could she say such a thing ?!" Archlich yelled as he slammed down his armor on the stone floor.

"Woah, calm down Arc," A smaller black Anziz said as they shifted on in their nest.

"She's part of the council, she has rights none other has" A white and blue anziz, slightly bigger than the black one hissed.

"So what, how dare she call us weak!" Archlich snapped back at the two before someone clearing their throat stopped him in his tracks. The other three got up and bowed to the Anziz that had entered. Their black scales shimmering in the pale light while their white eyes scanned the room.

"Archlich, Kanriss, Scabarb, and Sihaya... you haven't cleaned your living quarters and I can hear your bickering from the study, what in Medrivia's name are you going on about ?" they asked at the bowing guards and the small black one piped up.

"Archlich was going off about the Riki council member again," he said, backing down once he saw Archlich's cold gaze in his dark green eyes, cutting into his purple ones.

"But he meant nothing by it, ma'am," Kanriss said, her brown eyes shooting down Archlich's gaze in a heartbeat. The four guards silently waiting for orders or comments from their captain who only chuckled.

"Ma'am ?" Sihaya asked, tilting her head as her baby blue eyes filled with confusion. The captain laughed at the confusion.

"I'm not upset with you just curious myself...Now Archlich give me a reason why I shouldn't make Sihaya or Scabarb my second in command " she said coldly. Her tone and stance was enough to get Archlich to explain himself to try and not lose his position. After what seemed like an eternity the captain smiled, her teeth stained with blood.

"Alright, now get some rest, we have to accompany the council to a meeting at dawn break," she said while the others groaned in pain, only her ears twitched as she turned away from the guards and went back to the study.

"Well...At least it's something to do but she's so strict" Kanriss hissed as she sat down, sliding a claw along the spikes lining the end of her tail. Humming to herself as she soon laid down, still petting her tail. Scabarb watched her for a moment before curling up himself, adjusting slightly before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep. Sihaya climbed up to her nest, blowing out the candle, sending the cave into darkness. Archlich huffed before picking up his armor and slipping it on before curling up in his own nest, away from the others.
