Sitting on duty as a life guard at my local swimming baths, I watched on as the families splashed around having fun or telling their children off for running near the pool. There were 3 teenage boys around about 13-14 who were playing volleyball...they were making some noise but that's teenagers for you.
I saw my friend Julie talking to a few mum's, there was a redhead....her hair was styled into a bob, her face looked plastered in make-up....really hope she wasn't thinking about going into the pool. The redhead was eyeing up Georgia who was standing by the 3 teenage boys....he was on his phone as usual.....sorry redhead but while that's in his hand you ain't getting nothing out of him.
Working as a lifeguards you got ya pros and cons, it was fun in some ways but boring in others...most days nothing would happen and my arse would be stuck planted to this seat....as a lifeguard you can't keep your guard down. But on good days like seeing 2 men having an argument over whose gonna have the floaty first....those are the entertaining days.
Comes to something when I get more action here than I do at home.
I watched on as the 3 boys played volleyball, the one boy decided to be cheeky and throw the ball at Georgio's head while he nose was too busy looking into his phone. I couldn't help but have a little giggle, he almost dropped his phone on the floor and his expression was priceless.
Watching on at the entertainment I saw Julie coming towards me.
"Oi Missy, I want a word with you. "
I looked down at her
"Am I in trouble?"
She looked up at me with a little smirk and a raised brow...
"Depends what you've done."
I climbed down the ladders that were attached to my guarding chair, and came face to face with Julie's amazing impersonation of a cheshire cat.
"Not gonna lie but you're kinda freakin' me out."
She let out a giggle "It's that time of the week again....Friday night and you know what happens."
I started chewing my cheek, she and Georgio had invited me to come out with them tonight....they'd asked me last week and....I said yes.
"I'd love to-"
She stood there crossing her arms and raised her brow.
"But little Aaron can't look after himself, he's still in nappies and need you to be and beckon call."
I span around to find Georgio standing there with his hands on his hips.
"Tell me I'm wrong."
I placed my hand on my chest, my heart was going mad with the near heart attack he'd given me. "Did you have to sneak up on me like that?" I took a deep breath "You almost gave me a heart attack!"
