Pan lead Clove through the forest, back to the camp. The forest seemed a bit less threatening in the day. Less terrifying. When they came close to the camp, Pan stopped walking, removing his hand from her lower back. He stepped in front of her, staring her dead in the eyes.
"Have you heard of Neverland before?" He asked suddenly. It seemed as if everything he wanted to know had a specific purpose. He was strategic. That much, Clove could tell.
"Not until I came here. It is something obvious I should know about?" The girl asked, crossing her arms. She was terrified of him, but the last thing she wanted was for that weakness to show. She needed to keep up a strong act if she wanted to survive.
"Only a select few know about Neverland. It is a special place. Only the lost come here. Which is what makes me wonder why my shadow chose to bring you. He seems to believe in you. So.... you better prove you're worthy." Pan grinned. He moved aside a branch, revealing his camp. He began walking ahead of her.
"And don't try to run. I know where everyone on the island is at all times." Pan added, smirking at her knowingly. Did he know she had been with the pirates...? Maybe this was just a tactic to try to scare her. She took a deep breath and followed him into the camp. The lost boys glanced up when she walked into the camp with wide eyes. They were shocked she was still alive.
"How many died last night?" Clove asked Pan, crossing her arms. The boy chuckled. "Only five. I was expecting you to be number six." He admitted.
"Sorry to disappoint." Clove mumbled, looking around the camp. The other players who were still alive looked in her direction, some of them looking surprised as well. They had been given clean clothes, the type the lost boys wore, minus their weapons and cloaks. They were all sitting by the fire eating, trying to warm themselves. A couple were injured. All looked traumatized. They were completely silent.
"As much as we all enjoy you in your night gown." Pan said, turning towards Clove. He looked the young woman up and down, licking his lips. He received a mixture of agreements and snickers from the lost boys. Clove crosses her arms, guarding herself protectively.
"But. You've got to have something else. I'd rather feel the flames of hell than have anyone in the island wearing a dress." He hissed in disgust.
"Oh, trust me, Peter Pan. I'm sure you'll feel them one day." Clove hissed back. The lost boys looked angry by her remark. The other players were cautious and nervous about what Pan would say. But he only laughed, nodding his head.
"I'm sure you're right." He said simply, grabbing her arm tightly. He pulled the girl away from the lost boys and over to where the rest of the players were.
"You'll just have to make this work. I'd be happy to help fix this up to make it a bit more... girly." Pan mumbled, handing her a pile of clothes to change into. He then crossed his arms, staring at her silently.
"Here?" Clove questioned.
"Here." The smirking boy replied, tapping his foot on the ground.
"We haven't got all day. Hurry and change. There's nothing to be ashamed of." He wanted to see if she'd actually do it. The lost boys had their own tents to sleep in, or change in. They all had their own spaces, but the players hadn't been allowed to have that luxury yet.
"Go to hell." Clove hissed, but knew she didn't have much of a choice. She turned her back to Pan, pulling the nightgown off. She angrily threw it at him while sliding on the clothes he had given her. They were too big. Much too big.
She then turned back around glaring at him. He tossed her nightgown straight into the fire, making her roll her eyes.
"This isn't doing you any favors." Pan chuckled, walking over closer to me.
"I don't know. I kinda like it. Now maybe you'll be inclined to keep your paws off of me." Clove snapped, slapping his hand away when he reached out. He gave her a look, grabbing her wrist in retaliation.
"You clearly don't understand how it works in NeverLand. I make the rules. You shut up and listen to them face consequences. Ever seen magic before?" He asked, letting go of her wrist. He then gently slipped his arm around her waist momentarily. She started into his eyes angrily, shaking her head. There was a moment of silence, but when he pulled his hand away, the clothes fit her perfectly. A little too perfectly. The shirt was a hell of a lot tighter than what the boy players had on. But she didn't complain. They were clean clothes. They now fit her. And they were much warmer than her nightgown.
"Well, now you have. And you look magical."
Pan smirked, chuckling at his own little pun. Clove only rolled her eyes, sitting down next to the rest of the players. One of the lost boys gave her a plate of food. Unlike the other players, she didn't scarf it down. It wasn't because she was being 'lady like.' But because her new friends, the pirates of NeverLand, had fed her. But she ate slowly, as to not raised any suspicion. Pan had already been questioning her."Today, you'll have a day of training. Tonight, you rest. You'll each be assigned a lost boy you must stay with during training. You'll also be bunking with them in their tents tonight." Pan announced. That made Clove nervous. What if they tried to kill her in her sleep? Or worse? But perhaps a bit of shelter would be worth it.
Pan began listing off names of lost boys and players who would be paired together, going down the long list.
"Felix with Joshua. Babe with Alex. Nibbs with Laurence. And Clove... you're with me." Pan said. As soon as those horrible words fell from his lips, Clove shook her head in disbelief.
"I'd rather bunk with the little one." She argued, gesturing to the littlest lost boys whose name was not called.
"Finish eating and then your guide will take you to the training center." Pan smirked, walking over to Clove.
"Don't worry, love. I'm sure we'll get along fine..."
