"No. I'm fine. Thank you though." She spoke with a quiet voice and gave a little smile.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. I'm sure. Go away."
"But-"
"I said go away! I'm fine you idiot...!" She yelled at me with a red face. A bunch of people turned to her with glares telling her to 'shut up' or 'quit whining you little brat'.
She stood up and walked off to her next class, covered in bruises and bandages. A few people laughed at her and made rude remarks at her calling her a crybaby and such. I looked at her then back at the others.
"Come on, lets go, Takumi. We shouldn't waste our breath on such a useless person." Someone said next to me. I ignored what she said and followed the injured girl.
"Leave me alone...you're one of them...you're probably going to hurt me like the others...." She said with a quieter voice, tears rolling down her face.
She seemed like a paranoid girl instead of one of those tough people. She looked scared and angry at the same time. I want to be honest though, she was still standing pretty well.
"Don't let them get to you..." I said to her. I didn't have much to respond to her, really.
"Just leave me alone." She said as she walked faster down the hall and ran while she was running she tripped over her shoelace and fell flat on her head. I went to her and helped her up.
"You're really clumsy, aren't you?"
"What did I tell you? I said shut up."
"What? i was just trying to help..."
She soon froze and looked at me a bit, acting like she had never heard the word "help" from somebody elses mouth before. Her face was a mess and her eyes showed nothing but fear.
She held onto her skirt and ran away without a goodbye.
Everyone turned to look at me and gave me blank stares then carried on their way. I walked off to class as well, walking past a couple of girls who were giving me goo-goo eyes.
Alright. Let me tell you about this whole "fame" thing.
I never asked for it, I never wanted it at all. It just seemed to follow me everywhere.
Elementary.
Middle School.
And now, High School.
You would probably think i'm a lucky guy to be popular, but to tell the truth, this whole popularity thing is just a misunderstanding and annoying.
I mean, it's nice to have friendly people around, but they are all to clingy and mean to others. They expect me to join them but I usually just walk away.
Not like I care.
But this matter was different. I had asked a few of my friends about the girl I saw.
"Oh, you mean Yomui? She's a 1st year. She was always picked on and pushed around by others but she doesn't talk to anyone about it...She doesn't talk at all, actually...She just gets worse and worse everyday." Mizuki said. She started to continue. "Besides that, I also see her in one of the classrooms alone, just reading a book or doing nothing. I want to help her out and all, but she would probably get mad at me or something..." She said with a sigh and resting her head on the desk.
"Maybe she needs someone to keep her company..." I said as I looked at Mizuki.
"Yeah, maybe...." She soon perked up and looked at me. "Maybe you can be her guardian!"
"G-Guardian?!"
"Yeah! A Care-Taking Guardian!"
"I'm not so sure--"
"Come on, Takumi. You should try it. Helping out somebody is a wonderful feeling. I'll even join you."
"....Fine. But she's probably going to yell me at me like she did in the halls."
"She'll like it.
