The night was cool and dark, pin points of light glow across the dark hills, shimmering in the night like fireflies. The trees stare down like tall shadows reaching out wanting to grasp anything that walked below. Animals scuttle up the trees viewing the trespasser that walks slowly filled with dread and fear, the woman or perhaps young lady stares her eyes cold as she steppes over the withered undergrowth unaware of the silent footsteps that follows her, the young woman comes to a fence, a barb wired fence that stretches from where she stands till a brick building, forming a neat barbed wire square filled with clusters of shadows belonging to the people that move shivering unable to speak. She drank in the cool air closing her eyes she spoke ‘great one I am here’ her voice faltered, no answer came ‘great one I bring what you want’ The clusters of people gather together in the corner of the barbed wire square ,their eyes like torches watching the woman. The woman furrows her brow in confusion and fear ‘great one are.. you here?’ her sharp ears suddenly catch the soft foot steps that approach her, turning a cold hand grabs her throat ‘he has no need for you now he has succeeded, you have failed ’ The mans voice is deep, deeper then any she has heard but is a whisper a cold hard whisper. the woman swallows fear vibrating off her body ‘he does i-’ The woman is cut off as the man with one quick move slices her throat, her eyes bulge out  and a deep gurgling sound comes from her throat and then she goes limp. The man smiles, his eyes filled with glory, he bends down dipping his hand in the woman’s blood and he places it on her fore head leaving a hand print like no other , of only four fingers.

Thomas watched in horror within the cluster of people pushed up against the barbed wired fence, as the man sliced the woman’s throat. He gulped and turned away shaking his head, as a sixteen year old he realized the dangers he faced within the square. The people he was in captivity with thought that they had basically been kidnapped for no apparent reason. However Thomas had put a decent amount of sense into the discussion and said that basically they where being controlled by someone called (The Great One) but no one seemed to agree, all they knew was they where hostages Silence followed the slice of woman’s throat for few hours, only a occasionally grunt of confusion. Thomas sat at the opposite of the fence square wanting to stay a good distance away from the dead woman, but in the end curiosity gave way and he walked over. The woman’s eyes where lifeless just a pale white, her head was tilted to one side covered in dry blood as well as her neck. The woman’s expression was still plastered on her pale waxy face a mix of anger, confusion and fear. He shuddered, confused by why the man had killed her and left a bloody hand print of only four fingers. A man Thomas had first known when he had appeared here called bill, walked over stopping to stare at the woman beside him ‘Ugly way ta die’ Bill said breaking the silence, he nodded turning his gaze uncomfortably to a tree. ‘why was she calling for him?’ he asked ‘dunno maybe she was involved tryina tell in somethin’ ‘like what?’ Bill rubbed his unshaven chin ‘your, young lass, you don’t understand a bloody thing yet ‘I know as much as you in this blink-in wired square’ Bill turned to face him ‘look you know why we here?’ ‘no, no one does, well actually where just hostages Thomas was confused bill had always been sensible in half the year he had known him, what was he trying to say ‘yes but I do’ ‘what how?, no one has come past us since...well her’ he looked back at the lifeless body on the other side of the fence ‘But lad, I found a way out!’,Thomas shook his head ‘do you know how many months we searched for a way out?, there none the barbed wire fence we cant climb look how tall it is’ No there’s a portal!’ it seemed to Thomas that either bill had a rather strange dream or he had gone completely nuts ‘listen lad’ his voice was a horse whisper ‘A tall man came ere last night e was in the building!’, e was like none you see before e- ‘you not making sense bill!’ Bill had really gone nuts ‘Listen! shut up let me talk boy’ Thomas glared at the dirt a wave of embarrassment going through his face  ‘anyway e come ere into that building said dat- A shrill scream interrupted bill Thomas suddenly on full alert ‘what in hell name happened?’ Bill said beginning to walk to to the people obviously annoyed he was interrupted ,he followed. The girl was surrounded with the people he had spent his half a year with, looking concerned ‘what happened?’ Thomas asked a woman a pit of concern forming in his stomach ‘we... we have no idea she just appeared here.., she cant just bloody appear here she must of been dropped or fallen..’ there was a long silence ‘we should take her to the brick, ‘is she dead?’ ‘no unconscious ‘Thomas nodded to the man as they where beginning to drag the girl towards the small brick building ‘Hey Thomas’ It was James a rather muscular body build rather smart a little older then himself  ‘How did she get here’ ‘dunno they say she appeared’ James looked at him with confusion ‘you don’t normally have bodies randomly falling from the sky, he laughed as he finished his sentence, but the humor died from his voice when Bill walked over ‘I told ya so!’, there’s a portal!’ ‘your talking turkey man’ James said shaking his head , Thomas nodded but was confused ‘how did the girl actually get here? was she some kind of message? Im telling ya , your tweeny brains may not figure this out but its true! The man told meh!’ Thomas had to reconsider what bill was saying, after all was it true after half a year that maybe there was an escape from slavery. Shaking his head he looked bill in the eye ‘maybe it is true’ Bill muttered something and slowly made his way towards the brick ,clearly angry .Thomas shrugged at James who shrugged back and walked off. The brick they called was a brick building where they slept and ate, recourses came every week dropped off by (The great one’s commanders) people dressed in dark suits pretty scary looking men he had to admit. They had never seen (The great one) but at day they were hostages at night they where lonely shadows attracted to anything that would entertain themselves, and as a typical teenage boy Thomas found that hard. No more girls casey junes his first love not that it really went both ways but that was beside the point, when he had first appeared here he felt a mix of emotions, confused angry upset just like everyone else had. At first he had estimated about thirty odd people in the barbed wired square but everything seemed to be changing now and he meant everything. Thomas started to walk the too hundred meters towards the brick only nodding to the shadowy figures that slaunted past not saying a word. Thomas entered ,the brick had three stories one filled with recourses and the second completely empty and unfortunately for everyones case was where they slept and the final was the unknown. No one had gone in the top story before or dared to after all a little sign was pinned on the door saying you’ll regret it, so he wasn’t to convinced to be the first one to trial it. He made way slowly up the stairs stopping to stare at a little ant trail that when down the stairs, losing interest he continued his journey up the cobblestone stairs towards his stone bed. Thomas had a restless sleep for the first few hours tossing and turning at every grunt or noise someone made sweat gathered around his back as he dreamt of the girl and the murdered woman that lay right now on the other side of the fence. The morning sun rose, Thomas got up with   a yawn completely unaware of the goggling eyes that followed him, The rustle of people became louder as they each began to awake. A boy names simon walked up to him his face unnaturally pale ‘when the truck gonna be here’ Thomas rubbed the back of his head ‘soon leave it another ten’ the boy nodded clearly at unease ‘whats wrong?’ the boy looked at him sadness filling his eyes ‘why are we here Thomas?’ I wanna go home’ Thomas found it hard ti answer for he had no answer ‘look I know we all do, but here’s a promise He lent down next to the pale boy only around nine or ten ‘we will find a way out buddy I promise’ Simon wiped his hand across his eyes nodding ‘TRUCK IS ERE, EVERY SLACKER IN’ Thomas smile faded at the sound of the commanders ‘come on buddy time to go. The thirty odd people where crammed into the truck off to do the normal work for the day. A woman that sat next to Thomas glared at the commander ‘This is bloody useless lugging us off to working every morning’ ‘The commander pointed the gun to the woman’s chest ‘your lucky you don't work night, keep your mouth shut. She fell sigh-lent as did everyone else only to hear the occasional groan of someone sitting on another. The journey Thomas estimated took maybe at least and hour or so to get to the graveyard . The truck rolled in bumping over the gravel drive. The commanders opened the doors dim light poured in. ‘Alright slackers go normal route. halve 3your selves won side does the building other side does the digging’ They began filing out of the truck. Thomas skidded to the building side followed by simon and James. ‘start working you skinny buts off!’ The commanders started chuckling, gesturing them to halve. Thomas led the twelve odd people to the middle of the grave yard, bricks wood and steel lay in a pile along with hammers and other tools. Alright normal right?’ simon asked him yea three boxes made outta steel one box made outta wood’ There were groans as the people began to work. Thomas went straight for the wood taking it to a near by tree. For the next hour hammers , wood and steel clattered together. Sweat gathered around his brow ,breathing heavily Thomas placed the three steel boxes to the side of the tree and stood up. The graveyard was basically in the middle of a forest, well at least he thought so he actually had no idea where the hell in the world he was. There where suddenly shouts and screams as a gun shot was fired, he turned around abruptly. looking through the trees he saw a woman who laid face first in the dirt a dark red liquid oozing from her head. why did they do they?!’ he thought angrily killing someone they didn’t need to. He ran through the trees where the commanders were inspecting the woman ‘aww ere is er prince charming,to late slacker’ He felt his face grow hot ‘why did you kill her!’ ‘she tried to escape’ he glowered at them forcing himself to stay calm ‘theres only a few of us left!’ why are we even here!’ he screamed his  last sentence to the commanders, tears wanting to break free and dribble down his face ‘because you bloody well are, you think we wanna be here trucking you here and there, huh?  He threw a punch at the nearest commander knocking him to the ground ‘grab him men!’ Thomas eyes flared as the commanders roughly took hold of his waist. ‘let me go!’ he looked around in panic, shadows crept from behind the trees all there eyes watching him like torches in the dark. ‘let me go!’ he screamed for the last time, till one of the commanders put the gun to his head ‘you wanna be like that lady.. he paused looking at her wincing his cold stare went back to Thomas ‘you do what you told , were here for a reason you all brainless slackers just dont know why’  ‘then tell us!, ( what does the Great One want from us!? ‘ENOUGH!’ chuck him ‘he knows to much. Thomas struggled as the commanders tied his hands with roped behind his back ‘his muffled could not be heard from inside the bag. He suddenly began ti feel costrafobic ‘I cant breath in here!, I’ll suffocate!’ but the commanders were obviously paying no attention. He bagan to feel woozy and dizzy his eye lids fluttered with exaugition of trying to stay open, but feeling suddenly nauses inside the sack his eye lids slowly closed letting the world go black.
