A usual setting of a hospital in which nurses are trotting through the corridors from their patient to Nurse's Station. Doctors checking the charts and giving orders. Watchers who appear sopofiric from their sleepless nights.
Joseph, a staff nurse is going to check one of his patients who suffer from a serious heart disease. Her name was Sarah. She was ill since she was a child. She used to be confine in the hospital just like a regular patient. St Martha's Hospital seemed to be home for her. She did celebrate Special Holidays and even Birthdays here for a lot of times. All the nurses and doctors are familiar to her except for one, Joseph. He is a new nurse and work for the hospital for less than a month. And for now, he was hired as a private nurse for Sarah.
"Goodmorning Sarah! How do you feel today?" Joseph asked as he approach inside holding the patient's chart.
Sarah didn't reply. She is a very timid young lady who seldomly talked and express herself. Since she is not familiar with him,she only nods whenever Joseph asked and talk to her.
It's 7'oclock in the morning. The weather was good enough to stay outside the hospital and breath some fresh air. After giving Sarah the neccessary medications, Joseph came close to the window and draw the curtain and said, " It's good for you to breath some fresh air Sarah. Wouldn't you mind if we go outside the garden?I'll accompany you."
Sarah hesitated at first but she soon realize that she need to go. Besides, it's boring to stay in a four corners room alone. Her Mom and Dad were a bussinessman who always go outside the country. Her yaya went home to get some of her stuffs. So she agree with Joseph by showing a nod.
Joseph carefully took her into the wheelchair. They went in the garden which is full og different beautiful flowers. Different colors with different fragrances. The ambience there was relaxing. It soothe's you deep with in your soul. Sarah was amazed because this was the first time where she caught in her eye the full blossoms of this fascinating flowers. A certain flowee caught her eye. It's a pink tulips. If only she can pick that flower for herself. But it's prohibited.
Joseph who is coming behind her back is singing merrily. He came closer infront of her and handed a pink tulips.
"Oh! It's beautiful!" Sarah exclaimed with excitement.
"Just like you Sarah." Joseph smiled.
Sarah response with a smile.
"So you know how to smile? And you can talk too. I thougt you were mute." Joseph teased her.
"Of course I can speak." Sarah defended.
"You get prettier when you smile, so keep smiling."
"The flower....it's prohibited. Right?" She looked worried.
"It's not prohibited when no one knows. Just the two of us. It's our secret. Okay?" He said as he turned the wheelchair back for the exit. She nod at her and hide the flowers in the blanket.
They go upstairs because Sarah needs to rest. And it's time for her medication. It's a series of medication. Life long treatment. Though she's tired of it, she don't have a choice. This is the only way to extend her life. Sarah has a serious heart disease. Lately, her doctor found out that only a heart transplant can save her life. For now, medications will do. But soon, it will not work out anymore. Her family was desperate finding a donor that will match her. Unfortunately, until now there's none.
Joseph was about to leave the room when Sarah approached her, " Hmmm....nurse....what is your name again?"
"Joseph. It's Joseph Sarah. But you can call me Seph. That's what my friend call me."
