The next morning Susie and I were sitting in the kitchen; I watched on silently as she worked on a few arts and crafts projects. It wasn't long before someone came to join us, however, it wasn't the person I initially thought it was.
"Hey, guys." Said Jeff.
I looked up and smiled a little, partially glad to be seeing him up and about despite his incident with Jane the day before. Although, part of me wondered if he should even be up and about at all.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" I asked, "You do sure bounce back fast after being stabbed twice this week."
Susie looked up to see who I was talking to before absent-mindedly going back to what she was working on; occasionally looking back up at Jeff.
"I'm fine." Jeff replied with a shrug, "It happens all the time."
Susie glanced at him with a funny expression on her face.
"Hi, mister." Said Susie quietly.
"Susie, don't stare honey." I said, giving her a gentle nudge, "it's not polite."
Jeff raised an eyebrow at her. "What are you looking at, kid?"
Susie gently pushed her craft aside and got out of her seat before walking over to him for a closer look. I watched my daughter cautiously as if I were afraid that she might do something stupid.
"Susie..." I said, somewhat warningly.
Jeff too watched Susie cautiously. "Uh, kid..." said Jeff, "What are you doing...?"
Susie gently poked at Jeff's stomach. "Squishy..."
Jeff winced but tried not to visibly show it. He just stood there staring at her in annoyance.
"What the fuck, kid?" Jeff snapped.
My jaw dropped. "Susie!?" I gasped, "What did you do that for?"
Susie pouted. "But look, mommy, he's faking it! Can't you see it..?"
Jeff groaned, "Hey kid, leave me alone."
I shook my head. I had no idea what my daughter was talking about. What could she see that I couldn't?
"Susie," I said, "What are you talking about?"
"Look, mommy! Look!" Susie pleaded and tugged at Jeff's T-shirt.
At this point Jeff the Killer was getting rather annoyed and pretty frustrated with Susie. To be honest, I really couldn't blame him for that and I'm quite thankful that he hasn't tried to stab my daughter.
"Hey!" Jeff shouted, "Amythest, get your kid away from me please!"
I nodded and quickly called for my child. "Susie, come here." I called, "Now please."
Susie frowned, shaking her head as she looked from me to Jeff and back again. I raised an eyebrow at her, baffled by how defiant she was being. Usually, Susie would come when I called her over, but that wasn't the case at this very moment. I folded my arms over my chest, looking at her sternly for not listening.
"But, mommy look! Jeff isn't ok... he's really hurt!" She said, begging for me to look closely, "He's just faking being ok!"
Susie tugged at Jeff's shirt again, this time a little harder; causing the fabric to tear. She looked at him, then at me and back at the shirt; I could tell by her expression that she hadn't meant to do that, that it had only been an accident.
"Oops..." Susie whispered, "I... I didn't mean to do that...'
Jeff shook his head. "Really, kid... really?"
