Scarlet Michaels
Scar looked in the mirror through tear filled eyes. "You are beautiful." She lied to herself like people had been lying to her all her life. Her light skin was covered with freckles. They weren't the pretty ones neatly positioned across the cheeks and nose. They were wildly positioned. When she looked in the mirror, she saw what looked like shit splatter. The small specks of shit that stained the bowl when soft shit is pushed out with a burst of air. What was beautiful about that?
Scar shook her head catching herself getting sidetracked by negative thoughts. "You are beautiful Scarlet Rae Michaels." Her voice shook as she fought to hold the tears back. "Your skin is uniquely magnificent." She applied lotion to her face as she tried her best to find the beauty. "You have perfect eyebrows no waxing or pencil required." She smiled. That affirmation was true. "Your eyes are beautifully shaped like perfect almonds." She smiled more. She looked deep into her russet brown colored eyes. She always wished she had a lighter eye. Most people who were red heads with freckles had hazel eyes. Before the negative thoughts could start, she reminded herself. Russet may not have been as exotic as hazel, but they were beautiful. Light enough to see the warm brown color. Light enough to reflect the sun in the form of twinkles.
Scar removed the fancy blinged out bonnet she brought from Lil' Wayne's baby momma website. Her thick red twists sprang free. Her hair was the one thing she felt great about. She untwisted her hair and separated and fluffed her natural coils. She shaped her hair to frame her diamond shaped face. Today she didn't feel beautiful, but she didn't feel ugly either. Today she put in the work she needed to feel good about herself. Today was Friday, she had an appointment with Dr. Stone. He made her feel good. Even though her delusions told her he was flirting with her, she knew better. Her logical brain new he was her therapist and his job was just to help her get better.
The day she started seeing him was one of the worst days in her life aside from when she lost her mother. That day the man she thought was the of her life gave her the raw honest truth and it hurt. He was just using her. He would never seriously be with a woman like her. He through all of her insecurities in her face. He took every negative thought she confided in him about and used it to hurt her. She was already a shattering person. He took what he knew about her and broke her. Being told she was desperate and stupid felt different than all the times she may have thought it herself. Scarlet knew he was right and she vowed to do whatever it took to never be that desperate and stupid again. Therapy was the first step.
Daisy Dream Forever radiating from her skin; Mac Rih Rih La Glam covering her lips. Her Spanx held in her jiggly belly and smoothed out her dimply booty. Her red bodycon dress hit everything just right. She tied her boots chuckling as she thought about her best friend calling them "Pilgrim Boots". She put on her denim distressed vest and grabbed her purse. She had a date with Dr Stone and no way would she dream of being late.
Dr Stone was a young handsome talented psychologist. Scar sat across from him trying to pay more attention to the words coming out of his mouth than the shape and soft appearance of his lips. She would sit and fantasize about what those lips probably felt like. The sadness in his eyes brought her back to reality. "We have two more sessions left that your insurance will pay for." Scar felt her heartbreaking. Therapy with Dr. Stone was all she had motivating her from one day to the next. She saw him every Tuesday and Friday morning for the last nine months. "Scar I think you are well enough and capable enough to be okay from here." He walked over to Scar and took her hand helping her from the chair. His scent was intoxicating. She stood unstable. He walked her to the full-length mirror in the far corner of his office like he had done many times before.
