It was supposed to be an ordinary day, and a normal, enjoyable outing with a few friends to the mall to look at cute outfits and not buy any of them because of how ridiculous the prices could be.

Key words: Supposed to be.

"We should head to the food court after this," You suggested, as you and your friends walked out of a jewelry shop. "I'm dying for some french fries."

"Those aren't good for you, you know," Marie said. You pretended to not hear her judgement, your eyes darting around at the many other shoppers at the mall, before your eyes landed on someone who stuck out like a sore thumb.

"Oh. My. Gosh."

Your friends glanced at you curiously, before following your gaze to see what had captured your attention.

"What is it?" Hana asked curiously. She was looking all around in the general direction of your stare, before you stopped her, and turned her head so he was right in her line of sight.

"Don't you see him? The cosplayer?" You asked, a grin tugging at your face, but it faltered when the three of them only looked back at you with confusion.

"Not sure what you're talking about, Y/N," Erika said. "Did you stay up all night watching anime again?"

"That's besides the point. There's a guy cosplaying Hitoshi Shinsou, right there. I'm going to tell him he did a good job," You said, and walked towards him in spite of your friends' protests.

"Hey," You called to the cosplayer, who was just watching the steady stream of shoppers walk by, seemingly oblivious to you walking in his direction. One you were only a few feet from him, you said it again. "Hey."

He finally glanced towards you, looking fairly surprised. Maybe there weren't many who recognized him yet?

"I like your cosplay," You told him, "It looks pretty legit."

His eyebrows furrowed, confusion joining shock, and he opened his mouth, but whatever he was going to say was cut off when Erika gripped your shoulder, her expression filled with concern.

"Uhm, Y/N? There's nobody there."

You returned her confused and concerned look. "What?"

"You really need to stop pulling all-nighters for your shows," Marie said, as Erika began to tug you away. "It's clearly not having a good effect on you."

You stared at your friends, before glancing back at the Shinsou cosplayer, who's previous expression was now replaced with a completely different emotion, one that you weren't sure how to read. He followed as your friends pulled you away, looking as though he wanted to talk to you.

You kept your eyes on him in confusion, and they widened when, as he followed after you and your group, someone walked right through him. They didn't even look up from their phone!

You immediately picked up your pace a little, unsure how you were supposed to feel about this new and alarming development. "Heh, I guess you guys are right, I'm going nuts. Let's just get something to eat, yeah?"

None of them questioned your sudden change in attitude, probably just more relieved that you weren't 'talking to nothing' anymore.

Your mind was whirling, though. Were you hallucinating? There was no way he could be real, right? No one else could see him, after all.

You risked a peek back to see it- yep, he was still there and still following after you. You squeezed your eyes shut and turned your head back, focusing on getting to the food court. Maybe if you got some food in your system, it would clear up whatever was going on with your brain.
