Chapter 4
The band practice went good. They thought it was cool that I could rhyme so well. At the end, we were almost at the end of the song, but it was getting late, so we decided to head home. Cole's brother Pete was coming to pick us up. It was really cold, and my leather jacket wasn't exactly the warmest thing. I went to sit on the bench, and Nick came over.
"You cold?" he asked. I nodded, and put his arm around me. I looked up at him. "I missed you," I said. "I missed you too," he answered.
Pete had to drop us off at a corner a couple blocks away from the house because he was late, so Nick and I started walking.
"Listen, you don't really have a place to stay, do you?" he asked. I shook my head. "Then why don't you stay with us for a bit. School doesn't start for a few days, and it's going to snow soon so they'll probably cancel it. I mean, you've been really cool to hang out with, and when school starts again, we can enroll you or something."
"Are you sure your parents wouldn't mind?" I asked.
"Well you'll be sleeping in my room, so I don't think it'll really be a problem," he said.
I stopped and looked him in his eyes. "Nick, you have no idea how great this is of you," I said.
"I want you to be happy, Sarah," he said. At that moment, he tilted his head, and slightly kissed me. It was a little peck, just to see if I was okay with it. I was, and I kissed him back. I really was happy. After an awful year, and a depression which I hadn't told anyone about and was still taking meds for, I was finally happy. I didn't know what was going to happen in these next few years, but for the first time, I didn't need to think about that. I was going to be okay, I just knew it. I had Nick, I finally had Nick.
