Like any normal day, I sit on the floor, adjusting mechanical screws or chains from bicycles since we own a bicycle shop. The scene plays every day. My mother always ask me to go fit into her standards but really, I want a simple life. Just like a music player, I've listened to this day on repeat, over and over: a loop. One day, the wheels turn for me like the chains by the pedal of the bikes I fix. The bell on the glass door of our shop opened. A warm feeling seeping through the door like a warm camp woods. The smell of ember fires but with beautiful red roses in my mind blooming but caught in the fireplace. As I turn around, I saw a beautiful lady as beautiful as a goddess they show on portraits or museums. Her beautiful, dark blue hair are like the midnight glow in the forest. Her shiny blue eyes remind of the glowing blue moon. Every detail on her face are as perfect as a goddess statue. I feel heat rush through my cheeks as I find myself gliding towards her, craving for a touch.
"Gosh, she's a beauty and I don't know what to say," I think to myself.
Her lips curl into a dashing smile.
"Hello, I'm looking for a bike chain," the mysterious girl finally talks.
The softness of her voice makes my skin crawl in a good sense of wave. I can not help but feel drawn into her ambience. Every each color of her outfit to her hair are all cool but her ambience is warm as the sun. I notice that she's wearing gloves and every inch of my body is curious about her.
"If you're wondering about my name, it's Yvette" she smiles smugly.
"Oh hi! Nice meeting you," I blush.
Not for so long, my mother interrupts by bringing a chain for a bike.
"I believe you're Yvette right? You ordered by phone?" my mother asks.
"Yes ma'am, thank you so much.. also, I think your daughter is lovely.. I'd like to talk to her more," Yvette answers.
For sudden impulse, my mother somehow talks about me and scoot me closer to Yvette as if she's trying to bring me and the new girl together, smiling cunningly.
"Mom! Why?" I think to myself.
"Hey ladies, you both should be friends and hangout a little, hey dear, go go! Shoo! I'm gonna do some cleaning here in the shop, you should talk to this beautiful lady here and maybe you both will be friends," my mother waves her hand dismissively.
"Why thank you, I'm not as lovely as you," Yvette flatters.
"Oh, you charmer! You girls have fun, I'll go clean up now," mother grabs a mop from a back desk.
Both me and Yvette walks out of the shop.
"I'm sorry about that, my mom just gets super enthusiastic when she finds someone who she thinks could be my potential friend," I sigh.
"It's no problem at all, I see her charm in you because just looking at you for the first time, I can see you're adorable," Yvette snickers lowly.
My immediate response is looking away while my cheeks flush in scarlet hue.
"I go run a circus, you should come with me, you're invited as a VIP," Yvette smiles as she takes my hand.
"A circus? I can't say I'm not interested, let's go," I reply cheerfully.
Yvette seem to enjoy my reaction as she takes me by the hand again. Sooner, I arrive at the location where she invited me over. She's by my side and moments later, she goes around the crowd of people to get into the stage. She performs with magic, smoke engulfing the stage as floating fires emerge at the torches at the sides. My mouth goes agape from the awe I feel. I scream for her name in support. Yvette turns around in the stage very gracefully, eyes scanning me through the thick crowd. There is a woman who performs after her: tall, beautiful as well and streaks of colorful hair between red and bleach blonde. Her performance is as amazing as Yvette's. I shove ever so lightly from the crowd of people and slip through the backstage. Yvette snaps my wrist suddenly, surprising me. Without a word, she drags me to another location in the circus area.
"A ballroom?" I think to myself.
A large grand ballroom is in my view, dashing golden lights surround me, as if I've been brought back to the vintage days. I turn around to find Yvette sitting in a throne coated in red and gold. She sits there like a queen, hand on her chin while the other on the handle of the chair. Her eyes locks onto mine as I feel the fire in her eyes. She smug comfortably in her chair. Suddenly, her tone of voice drops as if she's a villain of her own.
"Say, in all wonder, can you see them?" Yvette asks.
Confusion strikes me like a clock chiming at midnight.
"What them?" I ask.
She snaps her fingers. What I saw beside her are people but at the same time, they are not. What I see far from me are in shape of people but faces distorted into a greenish hue of veins and dark glowing eyes: demons. I gulp as my knees tremble in fear. Every inch of me says it is not a good idea but however, I'm motionless like a clock halted in time.
"Yes, I was right, you can see them! As you see, I'm their master and I command them. I need something from you.. I need it to be stronger.. say, do you have something passed down to you that's old??"
"Uhhh well, I got a heirloom from my dad that's been passed down from generations but it's just a pin I have here on my jacket," I show her.
Like iron grip, she yanks the pin out of my jacket string, smugly.
"Wonderful, I can sense the power within it.. I need to be stronger.. I need to.." Yvette looks at the distance, mind far away.
"For? What?" I ask without hesitation.
"No. . You shouldn't know.. I'm dangerous.. you can't come closer to me or else.. I'll burn you.. I really think you're great but I can't take the risk of hurting you," Yvette frowns in displeasure.
My body reacts in a different way than I imagined: craving of wanting more from her, something I want to know more about her. As soon as she starts to walk away, my hand catches hers. Surprised, she turns to me in both worry and sadness.
"I'll stay with you! I want to know more and help you!" I shout.
Her beauty remains the same even at the state of worries. Her eyes widen ever so slightly. She sighs.
"You don't understand.. I used to be an assassin.. to fight demons but then something horrible happen to me as a child.. the merciless demon bit me but I managed through.. however, it hurts me every single day to feel the heat deep inside me like fire gushing through every coursing vein I have.. I want to get stronger.. for the sake of revenge.. this woman of wrath destroyed my life.. I need revenge to show her how much I feel.. we used to be friends... we were assassins fighting demons that matches us.. since the demon set its fangs on me.. I changed.. I realized more.. to become stronger.." Yvette rambles as her face shows deep sadness.
My body took a step backwards, hitting a wall behind me as she moves foreword, locking my body onto the wall.
"I am greed itself.." Yvette whispers.
"It's alright to be greedy... it's a thing everyone can feel at one point.." I suddenly reply.
"If that is true.. then, I want everything of you.. to be greedy, to be selfish in every way, to have you for myself and to have you in my side.. I tell you.. it won't be easy.. it would always be dangerous.. other assassins would go for me, to fight me in their might because they think I'm the villain in their games.." Yvette explains, "do you still wish to accept me, the greedy person that I am..?"
"Yes," I sigh as I close my eyes.
Her gloved hand caress my cheek as she draws her face closer to mine, angling it to whisper once more over my ear.
"Will you give your body and soul to me?"
Without hesitation, my whole body speaks to her by embracing her on impulse.
"Yes.." I reply firmly.
