the protracted car ride was very monotonous. the introverted redhead leaned her head against the chilling window with exhaustion resting under her eyes. she decided not to pack until last minute. by last minute, I mean 2 hours before they had to leave.

the family was moving out of the city of los angeles, where sadie would have much preferred to be at the moment.

sadie's mom is a nurse, and her father a therapist. they made a lot of money, you could say; but not enough so keep up with the rent in los angeles. her mom has always wanted to get out of the city, away from the crowds. and her father finally agreed.

they've already been driving for 23 hours. almost a full day, yes. sadie's legs were fatigue.

she also has a brother, an older one. but he's away at collage in boston for a few years, which sadie didnt mind due to their godawful relationship. they pretty much hated each other.

she had a few friends back in la. and a boyfriend, who she broke up with due to moving 30 hours away. caleb, was his name. she never had a huge friend group, and she was never good at making friends. noteing to herself she's most likely to have zero friends with the big move.

the girl fell back to sleep, peacefully until her brain shook her awake with the stop of the car.

the house was big, bigger than the one they previously owned beforehand, but a lot less expensive. the house was eerie, but sadie found it fascinating, she liked it. it gave the house character.

the drive way was long, narrow. she stood at 5'3, approaching the house before her parents.

sadie sink turned the fancy doorknob, after the key was placed in the lock. stepping into the doorway, her attection was cought by a movement. sadie moved back at the dark figure, only to realize the movement was a cat. it was covered in black fur and had suncolored eyes.

the redhead smiled, bending down to pat the feline, which happily expected her attention. sadie assumed the previous owner of the house had left it behind.

sadies mom walked though the door, holding a big box, and carrying it into their new kitchen.

sadie scooped up the cat, into her arms and carefully ran to her mom, following her into the kitchen.

"look, isn't he so cute?" she asked, showing her mom her new friend.

"he's cute, but put him down, you have no idea where that things been. take it outside, please." she said, pulling the silverware out of the boxes and putting it on the table.

sadie sighed, looking down at the cat. It was probably only about a year old.

"if dad says yes, can we keep him?" the girl asked with pouty eyes. her goal was to guit trip her; she dragged her across the entire country away from her boyfriend and her friends. her mom rolled her eyes, but agreed.

"only of he agrees to take it to the vet to make sure it doesn't have any nasty diseases." sadie nodded, smiling down at her cat again and taking it with her to look through the rest of the house.

she placed the black cat on thr floor, while she wonders through the hallway. when her parents agreed into taking the house, sadie wasnt with them, so really this was her first time seeing it.

her room was at the end of the hall. the halls were all made of dark wood, along with the doors. she opened her new bedroom door, only to see her room completely empty.

there was a huge closet on the left side of her room, around where her bed would be.

a window was also placed in the middle of the room, with dark curtains. the cat rubbed it's face on her ankles and vans.

she flicked through names in her head, none coming to her liking.

shadow,

eddie,

boris,

sox,

mikey,

ollie.

yeah, that was it. it was an odd name, for an odd cat. her lips curved into a smile as she bent down to sit with him.

later, her dad appeared into her room to set up her bed frame, making him agree to letting them keep ollie.

after going through six boxes, she finally found her skateboard. which, she normally spent her time on. she'd go skating with her friend sophie, and her sister tess. they were very close in the years they lived as neighbors.

it had to be almost 2 am by now, and sadies room was finally finished. all her things were unpacked. which made the room feel a lot smaller.

while the ginger girl difted to sleep, ollie joined her. he layed curled in a ball in a bunch of pillows that laid above sadie's head.

the weather was cool that night, despite it being october, the days are pretty warm normally. the wind ripped through the air unceremoniously. everyone in the house slept fine, expect claire sink, sadie's mom.

she pulled herseld out of bed to shut her window, while david slept unbothered. but right as she did so, any other earpiecering noise, came from the kitchen.

she slid on her soft slippers, and tighted her robe around her waist tightly.

she stepped in a splashy sound; only to realize the wooden floor was covered in water. to her concern she grabbed the towels out of the closet beside her to place them on the floor so she could soak up the water and find out where it's coming from.

but her wonders came obvious when she witnessed the kithen sink poor water out of the faucet, over filling the sink. she ran over to shut it off, frustrated at david for most likely being the one to flood the kitchen and hallway. she closed the window that was resting above the sink. tossing more towels on the floor so she can go back to bed.

and she did. peacefully, this time.
