Jack G's pov

"Guys, what should we do?"

"Why do you want to do anything? We just got home from Magcon. We should relax."

My best friend and roommate Jack Johnson, or JJ, was always full of energy. I kind of admired him for him. We were both 18 years old and should've been going out with friends and dating but we already had careers. He's a rapper and I'm a singer. We're in a group called Magcon.

"G, we should really go do something."

"Like what?"

"I don't know. Go get food, go to the beach, adopt a puppy, adopt a kid. I don't know. Just something."

"Wait. What?"

"What?"

Jack's mischievous blue eyes lit up at the word kid. I knew he wanted one. But could we handle it?

"A kid? J, we're both 18. We're still kids ourselves."

"We don't have to be. Think about it. With a kid, we would learn how to be mature adults without the irresponsibility of getting a girl pregnant."

"Well, yeah. But-"

"And we'd get to choose the age of the child we want."

I agreed with everything he said and he knew it too. And I knew he wouldn't let it go. So I agreed to go with him and adopt a child from a nearby orphanage.

"Ok. Let's go."

On the way there, J and I decided we for sure wanted a little girl around the age of 7-9.

So we drove the short distance to the orphanage and went in.

We were greeted by a younger woman, probably mid to late 30s.

"Hi. I'm Audrey King. How can I help you two boys?"

"We want to adopt a kid."

"Ok. Follow me."

She led us down the hallway to a small office and told us to sit down. She took a seat across from us and folded her hands on the desk.

"So tell me. What kind of child are you two looking for?"

"Well, we definitely want a little girl. Around the ages of 7-9. Personality depends on the child of course."

"Ok. Well, I know you have an age range picked out but just take a look at these folders. They have the name, age, gender and birthday of each child, along with a picture of each child. Of course, I'm handing you the files for all our little girls, who range in age from 4-15. I'll go get the girls downstairs and once you've decided which child you would like to see, just let me know."

"Alright. Thank you, Miss King."

She left the office and Jack J and I started looking through the folders she'd handed us.

After about 30 files, J and I were stuck on one in particular.

"G, I know we said 7 at youngest but look at this one."

He handed me the folder and I looked it over.

Name: Jane
Age: 6
Birthday: April 13
Gender: F

There was a picture as well. It was of a little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. She looked like a mini version of my best friend.

"She's perfect."
