"Sophia, I need you, guess what I found on the news!" Layla said, with major panic in her voice.
Static and muffled sounds came from the brick of a phone.
"What?!" Sophia sounded hesitant and scared but curious as she spoke through the speaker.
"Zombies are apparently taking over NYC, I thought they were in stupid horror movies, now this whole stereotypical species have now been proven to be real!" Layla explained with true terror.
"But these days anything can come true, right?"
"Well, following on what you just said, maybe we can-"
"No we can not go get the famous burgers from Burger King!" Sophia sounded annoyed as she cut her friend off.
"Are you kidding me, no! This is a chance for us to become the true protagonists!" Layla proclaimed with huge imagination and belief.
"You know in the movie world, everything is made up and most of the time not even possible!"
"Hey! Don't have such a negative mindset!" Layla yelled. "That's it! I'm coming over ASAP! I need to tell you in person!"
Layla grabbed her hiking bag, a few Peanut Butter Cups for energy, her phone, a jacket, because the wind in Los Angeles in winter are strong and feels like a whip against bare skin, and a note book for writing down probably impossible plans.
She flung the door open with confidence and double checked if it was locked. She was diagnosed with minor OCD a few months ago but no signs have been depicting yet.
She strolled along the dirt trail and looked at the beautiful, entangled nature that was humbly minding their own business. Layla loves nature, especially when it came to dogs. Any dogs she saw, she would melt into a heart-warmed puddle.
-15 minutes later-
Layla was 5 minutes away from Sophia's but was so out of breath that she had to stop.
Suddenly, she heard a blood curdling noise that didn't sound like any typical, humble nature.
Layla thought to herself silently, curious.
Then the noise strikes again. Layla's body freezes and the suspense makes her cold to the touch. She is sweating like a waterfall. She can't make out what it is.
Sound of leaves start crunching and are getting closer every stomp. Layla's breathing gets so fast she can't even keep up with her thoughts.
Then, the sound stops. Layla turns her head in confusion.
"Ahhhh" Layla's screams fill the forest. Nothing.
To be continued........
