•jane liked her new school with the soft orange brick walls and the loud teachers. she liked the new house her and hop had moved into: a small little cabin with a cosy fireplace fit for two. she liked the people who lived in hawkins...
well, some of the people.
"hey jane," said troy for the third time that week, resting his shoulder on the locker door beside her own, watching her put away her stuff. jane had a lot of patience and plenty of tolerance, but she was getting tired of troy asking her the same question over and over again.
"hi troy," jane sighed out in hidden annoyance, stuffing some more books inside her locker and taking some out. "listen. i know you said no the last time, but the offer still stands."
"troy, for the last time, i don't want to be your lab partner. i'm sorry. i like my current lab partner."
troy huffed in frustration, obviously not happy with her answer. 'why does troy want to be my lab partner so much?' jane questioned herself as she zipped up her bag and slammed her locker shut, locking it tightly. she turned to troy, her face passive. she had only been here for almost a full week and already she had someone bothering her, but jane didn't want to pick a fight or make any enemies.
"but how? literally, the first time you saw him he had blood all over his shirt! you can do better."
jane didn't like that tone; it made her feel as if she was dating mike and troy was trying to get her to date him instead.
'maybe that's why troy wants to be my lab partner. because i'm pretty to him.'
jane's stomach rumbled loudly, and the bell rang, signifying lunch time. she turned to troy and shrugged her shoulders at him. "i don't think so. talk to you later."
jane didn't want troy as her lab partner because she liked mike. he made her laugh, even if he stumbled over his words and swore a lot. it made her feel a bit happy. and yes, her first impression of him upon seeing him was that he was a weirdo but once he opened his mouth and words started coming out she knew they would become friends.
thing is though, jane never saw mike at lunch. it's been three days since her first day at school, and she had still never seen mike in the cafeteria. and she had tried to look for him, but she had been dragged to sit with a group of some popular people she didn't know.
it had been super boring because all they had done was gossip about things she either didn't care about or didn't understand. how was jane supposed to know what jacob did to melissa?
