Chapter 1
Hi, my name is Sarah Porter, and I am 15 yrs old, and I am here to expalin what Agriculture is and why its important.
Agriculture is the cultivation of soil, the production of crops and raising livestock, and can also be in varring degrees the production and sale of said products. It is important that we have agriculture and agriculturists because without them, we would have to grow our own crops and breed our own livestock just so we could survive. I don't know about you, but I don't think everyone in our generation would be to willing to have to go work in a corn field or out in a barn ALL day. I mean come on, that is hard work, heck these days we think the smallest amount of work is to much, but have you ever thought that maybe your grandma or grandpa had to work in a cotton field, or help in a tabacco field. I challenge you to go ask them what they had to do when they were our age and see what they say. Then sit down and think should we really take advantage of who grows and harvests the cotton that makes our shirts, or the prople who grow the food we eat because without them, we are nothing but a bunch of brats who would have to go work in a field instead of going to school and getting our degrees after we finish high school and college. If we had to work in a field all day, how would we be what we wanted to be when we graduate college? We wouldn't because we would be to busy working in a field and getting a farmers tan which I know every girl hates to have.
If you are wondering yes I am an Agriculture student, and I am also part of the FFA which a school organization that helps highschool students learn the importance of Agriculture. I hope what I have told you today helps you see all the good things in life, and will help you get more involved in your Agriculture system in your school. Thank you for reading.
