"Ti Ling was right behind me, I ran down Farley street and turn down an alleyway. My new sneakers grazed the curb. As I looked back over my shoulder I tripped. I braced myself for the fall and closed my eyes, ready to feel the pain of that familiar punch in my stomach from Ti. But I didn't hit the ground. I wasn't falling anymore.

I opened my eyes and saw blue, white and silver coloured lights swirling and dancing around me through the air. I looked up and saw nothing but the same light glowing In the darkness all around me. In front of me seemed to be a water fall of glittering lights falling gently but continually to the floor where they disappeared.

I reached out to touch it. It felt like ice cold water. I reached further and something pulled me through."

"Ya ya, Mami I know the story. Then you met dad and you feel in love, and bla bla bla." I Interrupt, and through a pillow at May.

"Its a family tradition, the story on your birthday. Your father asked me to always remind you of him."

Mom was sitting with on the couch with me on my 16th birthday. When something happened. I stood up to get the TV remote and my eyes went black and I collapsed on the floor. I couldn't see or feel.

I woke up a few moments later lying on the couch. Mom was leaning over me feeling my head.

"What happened...?" I mumbled weakly.

"I think you stood up too fast and black out for a moment there. You bumped your elbow on the table as you fell too. Just rest a bit you'll be ok."

Although I felt a bit dizzy mom's gentle eyes made me relaxed. She left to go get hot chocolate I reached out for my glass of water. As I touched the glass with the tips of my fingers it froze. The I spreading till the whole glass was frozen solid.

"Mom, mom!" I screamed

Mom came running and placed her hand on my shoulder to calm me.

"Mom! Look, what is it!? How did i do that? Why is it like that?"

The panic in my voice was unmistakable. I pointed at the glass and clutched my mothers sleeve.
She look shocked. Took a deep breath in and then said,

" I think it's time you meet your father.."
She was calm. But there was sadness in her voice.

"What do you mean..? Have I always had a choice to meet him?" I was no longer in shock from what had happened, but I couldn't calm down on hearing this.

"No, it was for your safety that you have not met him. Yours and many others safety. You see the Frostilians did not approve of your father falling in love with me. They called humans 'decrea' short for ' de-formis crea-turae '. In Latin that means 'ugly creatures'. I love your father but if he came to earth to live with me he would be banned from Frostila. If I went to Frostilia, he would be shunned, exiled and I would have been killed."

Her face was sad and her eyes shone with tears. But she kept talking not stopping for me to speak.

" So we got married, not in Frostilia, not on earth. But in the porthole between the two worlds. This was not breaking any laws of the Frostilians. His family did not know. And I had no family, being an orphan. It was a quiet wedding. Only us two."

A smile flickered over her face. But it was soon gone again.

"Harry used to come to earth every weekend, we stayed indoors so no one saw him. Soon after we were married only three weeks. I fell pregnant. I was young and scared. I told him it would be better if he left me. If he want back to his land and I raised the child alone. He did not want to go. He was willing to leave his world behind and join ours. But one night the Frostilians caught him using a porthole to get to earth. They took him. He begged and pleaded with them. They were not unfair people and allowed him to visit me one last time.

Before he left on that last night, he gave me two necklaces. One for myself and one for our unborn child. You. Harry said that the necklace would keep you safe. He asked me to tell you about me, remind you every year on your birthday. I promised, and he left."

She was silent.

"But that doesn't explain this?"
I gestured to the glass.

"Your father had powers, because he was a Frostilian part of his power lives in you. You are half human, and half Frostilian."

She smile again. Her hand resting on my shoulder lifted and stroked my hair.
This was like the beginning of my new life. I was scared but curious. I had to tell someone.
