Lauren Jauregui was the new girl, and Camila was capital G-A-Y for her. She'd been hooked the moment she had laid eyes on the older girl, and she knew she'd must've somehow pleased the gods above when she walked into her Music class to find out that they'd be sitting beside each other for the rest of the year.

Being the big gay mess that she is, Camila also made it a point to sit behind Lauren in every other class they share together. No, not to stare at her, but rather to bask in the presence of the most beautiful human being she has ever seen. (That's what she tells her best friend, Dinah, at least. She stares pretty much all the time.)

Lauren, on the other hand, knew of her not-so-secret admirer. She wasn't being subtle, after all. If she was being honest, she kind of loved feeling Camila's eyes on her. Camila was gorgeous, and if she wasn't so hell-bent on trying to stay low-key in her Junior year, she would've probably asked the younger Latina on a date herself. But, being the new girl in a school where everybody pretty much knew each other since the beginning already put her under the unwanted spotlight. Asking a girl out on a date would just magnify that a tenfold, and quite frankly, she's witnessed enough high school drama to last her three lifetimes without being involved in one.

And so, they remained almost strangers, only exchanging timid smiles every so often. Well, that was until Camila woke up one Tuesday morning with a strong resolve to finally go up to Lauren Jauregui and ask her out on a date.

----------
Camila drives to school with her game face on. She was going to ask Lauren out on a date, and Music just happens to be their first class of the day. (Okay, so she was nervous as fuck, but how else is she going to get the girl of her dreams if she doesn't take a leap?)

She heads straight into the Music room, immediately spotting Lauren in her assigned seat. She makes a beeline for Lauren, stopping right in front of her.

"Hi, Lauren."

Lauren looks up from her phone, her green eyes immediately meeting Camila's rich browns.

"Uhm, hi Camila." Camila's confidence falters just a teeny-tiny bit at the sight of Lauren's emerald eyes, so instead of going straight for the kill, she decides to at least have a conversation with the older girl.

"Great day isn't it?" Seriously, Cabello?!

"Yeah, I guess."

Okay, that was a disaster. Just do it! It's now or never, Camila!

"So, uhm--"

"Okay, people! Take your seats! Let's begin!" Miss Lovato suddenly announces, effectively cutting Camila off. She looks apologetically at the older girl, who only shrugs at her with a small smile.

It's now or later, I guess.

"Later." She mouths, before dropping to her seat beside Lauren. (Look, she values her education, but she was gonna ask Lauren freaking Jauregui out on a date!)

The hour goes by quite slowly, if you ask Camila, but they get to the end of today's lesson eventually. As soon as Miss Lovato dismisses the class, Camila jumps of her seat and waits for Lauren to get out of hers.

"So, listen..." Camila says as she and Lauren make their way out of the classroom. "I've kinda been going back and forth about this because you're so out of my league, but do you wanna go out on a date? With me?"

Lauren's eyes go wide at Camila's question.

Finally! I thought you'd never ask!

"Are you kidding? I'd love to!" Lauren responds, cringing just a bit at how eager she sounded.
