I walked into the main hallway connecting Hybrid A and Hybrid B's labs. I turned to the left hallway and entered Hybrid B's lab.
There were machines and junk food items everywhere. Directly across from me lay a long metal table across the wall. It held the most important monitors and machines. These gave us the health and mental data of our experiment. Above that was a large glass window, it took up almost all of the wall. It was to look into Hybrid B's space. The space held a small flat and behind that flat was land. Half was desert, the other was a jungle-like landscape. In front of the house, directly behind the glass was a meadow area and a large pool to act as ocean.
There was a small vent next to the metal table to get into the space. We only went there to clean the area and feed Hybrid B. Hybrid B is relatively pleasant with that. Hybrid A always begs us to let them out, usually clinging to our arms and legs. We end up sedating Hybrid A, and if that won't work we leave. Both Hybrids can not escape through the vents or break through the glass. They can not leave until they are fully reborn and matured.
They are in the Rebirth process, which means they look like inky bodies that move. Healthy Hybrids have a pink aura, sick hybrids have a green aura and dying hybrids don't have an aura at all. Only one Hybrid has made it past all these processes and works in our labs now. He manages the Hybrid's labs mostly, but also does Government work.
"Good morning Jason, you're up quite early. Got something on your mind?"
That's the Hybrid. Dr. Jeremy Traxe (pronounced 'trace'). Weird last name but we were all partying because of the success and the Name Givers were high on weed.
"Well Dr. Traxe, I was up for a while and could not fall asleep. I decided to come here and check up on the Hybrid." I replied.
There are two necessary things about Hybrid's that everyone should know. One, they do not sleep. They don't need it. Two, they have the abilities of the supernatural. But only up to a point because of their human side.
Traxe is mixed with fairies, so he can induce hallucinations and emotions. He can also levitate and he can speak all languages. That's all he can do though.
"Well, I suppose that's fine. But you should eat first. And get changed. Orange daisies don't fit a lab setting." he said with a chuckle.
Jeremy's nice, but he's a little slow and too carefree. The guy heard about the Final War and how terrible it would be, and he only laughed it off. He's so optimistic it's scary. He calls me 'Mr. Workaholic' sometimes and says I'm too young to be so busy.
I decided to go get changed and head to the cafeteria to eat.
After changing, I headed down to the cafeteria. It was on the second floor. As I was walking down, I heard an unearthly scream followed by pounding footsteps. A rushing wind blew past me, but I didn't mind. It was just Miranda. My best friend. She usually runs loads of laps every night and keeps an eye on the Hybrids. She's a Spirit Keeper. She keeps secrets that could end the universe. She and her mother are the only ones still existing after the others disintegrated for almost telling one secret.
Spirit Keepers have a special tiny clock that glows green when they are still allowed to exist and it rings and stops glowing when their time is up. Miranda just got her clock so she has about 3000 years before her time is up.
"How are you Jason? Are you okay? What are you doing up so early? How is the Hybrid? Why don't you come eat with me?" a hyper voice yelled out.
"Hi Miranda, I'm fine. Yes I am okay. I just could not sleep well so I came out to get started early. The Hybrid is fine for now. I would rather eat in the lab though." I replied slowly.
Spirit Keepers have to focus on keeping their secrets so you have to answer all of their questions in the order that they ask it, you have to speak slowly but not too slowly and you can not ask them any questions at all. I do not know who made those rules but I'll stick with it.
I made my way to the Food Dispenser (very original name) and ordered some scrambled eggs and bacon. After a few minutes, I took my food and headed back up to the labs. I headed to Hybrid A's lab this time.
However as I walked into the lab, I dropped my plate immediately.
"W-wait... it's too early for... TRAXE!!"
