Oh Gods, what am I doing? Annabeth thought. Her heart raced and her stomach flip- flopped. She was sweating. She needed to stop, or she would ruin her makeup and hair. She shook her head and took deep breaths. This is the right decision, she tried to convince herself. Somewhere in the back of her mind, a voice said, This is a horrible idea.
Just then, the entrance to the white tent lifted. A girl with long red hair walked in. She grinned at Annabeth and said, "You're nervous, I can tell. I can literally feel your emotions from the other side of Camp." I hate how good she is at the whole Oracle thing, Annabeth thought.
"Yeah, I'm... I just don't know if it's the right... right choice," Annabeth muttered, closing her eyes and massaging her temples.
"You're smudging your makeup. Trust me, I think you're making the right choice. But that's not important. You have to think its the right choice. It doesn't matter what anyone else says," Rachel reassured her confidently.
Annabeth sighed. She glanced around the tent, looking annoyed at the lack of organization. White stools were strewn across the floor. Mirrors, makeup, and various frightening beauty tools clogged every surface. Grimacing, Annabeth stood.
"Well, it's now or never," she said. Rachel smiled gently at her. Then she pulled her in for a hug.
"You're smart, Annabeth," she said.
When she pulled away, Rachel took her hand and pulled her out of the tent.
Across the green grass of Camp Half Blood they went. The air was gently warm and sweet smelling. The sun tickled Annabeth's tanning skin. She couldn't help but smile.
That smile immediately changed into a smirk when she saw the pink and frilly Aphrodite cabin. Due to an unfortunate type of magic, Piper (the new head of the cabin) could not change the exterior. She had, however, done a giant makeover on the interior.
Bunk beds with diffferent colored bedspreads and various posters, beauty products, and personal items on them stood in lines on either side. The walls changed images depending on who looked at it. For example, Annabeth saw her dad working on a plane, his eyes alight with inventiveness. The image shimmered, and now she was seeing her friends all at campfire, singing. She shook her head and turned her attention to the center of the room, which had become a temporary Annabeth makeover center.
A beautiful white gown, soft and loose, lay carefully across a table. Ivory gladiator sandals gleamed in the light. A pearl necklace was being inspected by a very focused Piper. She looked up and gasped when she saw Annabeth.
"Are you ready?" she asked. The entire cabin went silent.
Annabeth took a deep breath. "Yeah," she said. The cabin exploded into cheers and gibbering. Annabeth raised her hands to the sky and looked up. "Why did I agree to this?"
Piper squealed. "You'll see."
The next hour was a blur. She remembered being moved around and talked to, but she wasn't listening or paying attention. Her mind was blank. Finally, voices urged her along as she found herself walking up to a beautiful field.
Plastic chairs were lined up in rows. An archway glittered with magical sparkles and flowers. A carpet had been rolled in between the two sections of chairs. Some familiar tune was playing. At the front, a cherry colored wooden altar had been placed. Atop it, Percy stood in a black tuxedo with a white tie. He grinned at her as she began walking down the aisle. Jason, also dressed in a tux, winked at Annabeth. When she reached the front, he began reading from a booklet in his hand.
She recalled saying a few words and hearing Jason talk. Her mind was on overdrive, and her head spun. Finally, Jason asked her, "Are you two gonna get married or not?" She remembered her mind clicking into place.
She thought about meeting Percy for the first time, kissing him when she thought he was going to die (which was a lot of times), being astonished as Percy turned down immortality, staggering through Tartarus with Percy carrying her, and sitting at Camp Half Blood and talking. She knew what she had to do.
"Uh.... yeah," I said. Percy smiled. "Of course!" Percy said, grinning.
Jason smirked. "About time. You may now kiss the bride!"
Percy turned to face Annabeth. She remember laughing and muttering, "Seaweed brain," as Percy kissed her.
